Sylva & Cie

Sylva & Cie

Sylva Yepremian, who was born in Lebanon, raised in Paris and trained at the jeweler's bench by her father, a master craftsman who had worked for Cartier, co-founded Sylva & Cie with her husband Raffi in Los Angeles in 2007. Their families had run jewelry businesses in the same downtown LA building for decades, and the label built its identity on hand-crafted, antique-inspired pieces drawing on Georgian and Victorian design.

Jewelry

The jewelry here comes directly out of Sylva Yepremian's apprenticeship under her father, a former Cartier master jeweler, and her habit of reworking genuine antique pieces, including an actual Georgian-era mourning brooch that became the basis for the brand's Ten Table design. That hands-on, bench-trained approach is unusual for a label of this size, most of which outsource production entirely. Sylva & Cie still makes its case through old-world craft rather than branding.

Our honest take

Sylva & Cie's craftsmanship claim is one of the more verifiable ones in fine jewelry, backed by an actual multi-generational apprenticeship rather than a marketing bio, and the antique references read as genuine research rather than borrowed vocabulary. The look is specific, Georgian and Victorian revival, which will not suit every jewelry box. For anyone who wants that particular old-world register done by people who were trained in it, it delivers.
