Tailored Suit

Tailored Suit

A tailored suit edit of single-breasted two-pieces, blazers and wool trousers in navy, black, grey and tan. It is for men who want a clean suit that also works as separates.

A tailored suit looks modern when it is simple: single-breasted, a soft shoulder, and a color that goes with everything you own. I start with navy or black wool and let the trousers do some of the work, because a good pair of pleated trousers gets worn with a knit and loafers long after the jacket has gone back in the closet. I went deeper on a related idea in Best Tailored Coats: Cut Like a Suit, Single or Double Breasted.

Bonobos makes the easy navy and tan two-pieces I would hand to a friend with a first job interview. BOSS and Theory are where I go for a sharper blazer, and the BOSS tuxedo is the one to own if your calendar has black tie on it. NN07's pleated wool trousers in grey and truffle are my favorite way to break up a suit, and Les Deux's herringbone pair is a clean black option. Pick the fit first, then the fabric.
