Outfits built on contrast: satin against knit, leather against cotton, suede against denim. A neutral palette of black, brown, cream and grey for women who want dimension without extra color.

I build most outfits on contrast instead of color. Keep the palette to black, brown, cream and grey, then change the surface: something shiny next to something matte, something chunky next to something fluid.

My easiest pairing is a satin skirt like the one from GUIZIO with a soft cable knit, and L'AGENCE makes an airy cabled sweater that does that job well. Leather loves a rough partner, so I would put ASTR the Label's Estero leather-look jacket over a plain ribbed tee, or let Lisa Says Gah's faux suede jacket sit over denim. Shoes are where texture is simplest to try, and a croc-embossed Reformation loafer or a Margaux suede one changes a simple outfit completely. If you want one small thing, the Clare V. woven belt bag adds a basket-weave surface against a smooth sweater.
