The Attico Spring 2027: A Wardrobe of Personalities

The Attico Spring 2027: A Wardrobe of Personalities

For ten years of The Attico, the designers staged their show on beds in a dark tunnel and sent out a procession of alter egos. More than a third of the looks carried a bag, and the point was never one silhouette.

Ten years, in bed

The Attico turned ten, and Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini celebrated with a long line of beds in a dark tunnel, the audience sitting right on the pillows and tangled sheets. They insisted it was about intimacy, the private space where you can be whoever you want.

Their starting point was that we all have a public life, a private life and a secret one, and they went straight for the secret one. What came down the runway was a procession of alter egos, from a gothic creature with piercings to a 1980s nightclub apparition. I love that nobody looked like they had arrived as themselves.

Some looks seemed to have walked out of bed that morning, so let me start with the shoes. Trousers appeared in only about one in five looks, which left a lot of leg for them to work with.

Slept in and glamorous

The dressing gown is one of the brand's original signatures, and it returned in layers of luscious fabric that made the vestaglia almost operatic. Velvet, a sensuous signature from the early days, brought the anniversary full circle.

Fabrics were molded, twisted and wrinkled around the body, so every dress looked slept in and glamorous at once. Strapless shapes and leather each showed up in a handful of looks, and so did fur or feathers, which is plenty.

The designers joked that last year they forgot the jackets and this year they forgot the trousers, and I believe them. A feather-trimmed minidress or a fringed halterneck feels like the right kind of misbehavior.

Clutches for a secret self

More than a third of the looks carried a bag, and I think that is how the wardrobe of personalities gets its punctuation. A small satin clutch reads as the evening self, and a denim shoulder bag is the version of you that keeps things casual.

I especially like the oversized leather clutch. Held under the arm, it makes a proud shoulder look even prouder, and the designers were clear that the shoulder is never a sad one. The bag is the last thing that tells you which woman has just walked in.

A bed, a wardrobe, an audience

I would wear this show the way the models did, as if I had gone to bed dressed and walked out before morning. The fringed halterneck minidress, the oversized leather clutch, and shoulders with some attitude: that is my version of the secret self.

Long after the show, what I remember is how generous the idea is. After a decade, The Attico is not selling one silhouette, it is letting a woman change personalities, and a little misbehavior while looking this good is a very easy thing to agree with.
