A men's edit of minimal sneakers: white and cream leather court styles with gum soles. Clean shoes for the office, the weekend and everything between.

There is something calm about a sneaker that does not try too hard. I want a clean leather shape, a quiet sole and nothing on the side that shouts, so it works with trousers on a Tuesday and shorts on a Saturday.

 

The PUMA Suede Modern in white with a gum sole is my easiest pick, and the Cole Haan GrandPro Tennis does the same in a slightly dressier way. Allen Edmonds makes a white slip-on in the Banks that goes under chinos, and the GREATS Royale in grey is the one I would wear with jeans. If you like a bit of retro, the Nike Killshot and the Gola Hawk 89 have that tennis court look with a gum sole.

 

Pick one pair in white or cream, keep the laces tidy and wear them until the leather softens.
