Who is Vicente Wolf and what makes his rooms distinct

Vicente Wolf is a New York City interior designer whose practice spans more than four decades. His site calls his aesthetic clear, restrained and elegant, with globally sourced artifacts and furnishings set into modern interiors. I love the way those rooms make a few meaningful objects feel essential without crowding the architecture.

His work spans private homes, hotels and restaurants, and his creative life also includes photography, art collecting and international travel. He leads Vicente Wolf Associates and VW Home by Vicente Wolf. VW HOME traces back to a loft he opened beside his Manhattan studio in 1999 for objects and antiques gathered on his travels, before it became a showroom.

Vicente Wolf's fall home edit: antique furniture, collected objects and warm layers

His official biography notes his AD100 and Elle Décor A-List recognition, the Cottages & Gardens Innovator in Design award in 2013 and an Interior Design Hall of Fame induction in 1998. He received an honorary doctorate from Boston Architectural College in 2012, and Elle Décor named him an A-List Titan in 2021.

Creative Interior Solutions is Wolf's fifth book, co-authored with Margaret Russell and illustrated with his own photographs. At VW HOME I find wood, stone, bronze, ceramics, textiles and vintage furniture selected to make a room feel collected; for fall and winter, I would layer substantial pieces with tactile objects and candlelight.

Where I would start with Vicente Wolf's point of view

Start with one substantial furniture piece and give it space around it. Add a single sculptural find, then bring in a pillow or lamp and candlelight as evenings get longer. That mix of quiet structure and objects with a past is what I love most about Wolf's rooms.
