White Bridal Shower Dress

A white bridal shower dress works best when it reads as a party dress that happens to be white, not a stand in wedding gown. The safest route is texture, whether eyelet, embroidery, or a subtle print, since a plain smooth white column can look like you wandered in from the ceremony. Fit should be relaxed enough to eat cake without adjusting anything. The one thing to avoid is heavy beading or a train, both of which tip a dress from guest into bride.

If the shower is in a garden or someone's living room, I would go matte. Cotton, crochet and knit read as daytime in a way satin never quite does, and they forgive a cake crumb far better. A test I like: photograph yourself next to a white wall. If the dress disappears into it, it is too plain for someone else's day.

What I would skip: a long white hair bow or a pearl headband with any of these. The dress alone is enough white.

The mistake I see most is guests assuming a more formal dress is a safer one. It is usually the opposite. A clean silhouette with no texture can look more bridal than a simple eyelet sundress, so judge by cut and detail.
