The darker half of the Yeezy Slide range is where I go when I want the shoe to disappear under the outfit. The Yeezy Slide Onyx 2022/2023 and the Dark Onyx are close to black, and they work like any black flat does: with a long skirt, with tailoring, with a trench you do not want to think about. Soot and Soot 2021 are a touch softer, and Core is the plainest of the lot, a shade I would reach for with straight trousers and a crisp shirt.

Then the in-between tones. Slate is a cool, smoky gray with a mineral feel, and Granite sits nearby, slightly stonier. I like both against denim in a washed-out blue, because the colors rhyme without matching. The third group is the one I would send you to if you like the slide idea but want a different shape. The Foam Runner is a slip-on made from one piece of a Yeezy material that blends harvested algae and EVA, according to Highsnobiety, and the first one came in a white Ararat colorway. Ye said in June 2020 that the Foam Runners were coming out that month and were the Yeezy line's first American-manufactured items. It is a different shape from the slides, and that is the point of including it.

The colors here are mostly soft. Foam Runner Onyx is the dark one, the easy pick for black outfits. Sand and Desert Sand are the warm, pale pair, and I would wear them with cream trousers and a linen shirt. Mist is a cool, airy shade that sits well with washed denim. Ochre brings the mustard tone from the slide range into this shape. Stone Sage is a muted green that works with olive and khaki, and Mineral Blue is the only real color here, a dusty blue I would wear with white jeans and a gray sweatshirt.

The last pair is the Yeezy 450 Slide Cream, the odd one out. It is a slide, but with a different silhouette from the classic Yeezy Slide, and in a soft cream that goes with nearly everything pale.

What I would skip: do not buy any of these purely from the photo without checking the size chart, because the size chart is the only thing that tells you what you are getting. And I would skip the brightest colors if your closet is mostly neutral, since a pair you cannot style will end up in a box by the door.
