YSL MYSLF Absolu, Orange Blossom for Men

YSL MYSLF Absolu, Orange Blossom for Men

YSL myslf absolu is the third MYSLF eau de parfum, built around orange blossom, ginger and warm woods. Here are eight Yves Saint Laurent men's fragrances, from MYSLF to L'Homme, and eight citrus, orange blossom and woody scents I compared them with.

Magazine-style product test page with five cut-out products and a best-for note on each: Yves Saint Laurent MYSLF Absolu with Ginger & Woods; Yves Saint Laurent MYSLF Eau de Parfum; Yves Saint Laurent MYSLF Le Parfum; Yves Saint Laurent Y Eau de Parfum; TOM FORD Taormina Orange Eau de Parfum

The Third MYSLF, Announced in 2025

YSL myslf absolu is the third MYSLF eau de parfum, after MYSLF in 2023 and MYSLF Le Parfum in 2024, and Fragrantica reported it as the newest addition to the men's collection in June 2025. Austin Butler fronts the campaign. The first MYSLF launched in 2023 as an expression of what Yves Saint Laurent called a new masculinity, and orange blossom has been at the heart of the line since.

Absolu pushes that further. The brand release says the signature orange blossom is magnified, with a crystalline accord made from blossoms grown in the YSL Beauty Ourika Community Gardens in Morocco. Fragrantica lists bergamot lifted by cardamom and ginger on top, and Indonesian patchouli underneath, and that part is medium confidence, so use it as a guide. The bottle gets a mirrored finish, and the MYSLF line is refillable.

The ginger is what sets Absolu apart from the original, and I like how the notes read on paper. It is cool spice, then white flower, then wood, which is a more interesting order than most men's colognes follow.

The first grid is Yves Saint Laurent, from MYSLF to Y and L'Homme. The second grid is citrus, orange blossom and woody scents from other houses. The bottle comes in 40, 60 and 100 ml sizes, according to Fragrantica, so you can start small. My tip: test it on skin in the afternoon, when the ginger has settled and the blossom is easier to read.

Eight Yves Saint Laurent Men's Fragrances

Yves Saint Laurent MYSLF Absolu with Ginger & Woods is the one this edit is about. Bergamot, ginger and cardamom open it, rich orange blossom sits in the heart, and warm woods finish it, for what the description calls a warm, woody-floral trail. MYSLF Eau de Parfum is the original, with sparkling bergamot, orange blossom absolute and warm woods, and it is refillable. MYSLF Le Parfum adds spicy black pepper and vanilla bourbon, so it is the warmest of the three.

Y Eau de Parfum is the signature Y scent, a bold, woody fragrance with sage and geranium. Y Le Parfum twists it with midnight pine, patchouli and fir balsam, a woody-amber take that I would hand to someone who wants a cooler, forest-like scent.

La Nuit de L'Homme is the evening one, with cardamom, cedarwood and coumarin. L'Homme is the daytime classic, with bergamot, ginger and vetiver, a balanced, woody scent that stays out of the way. L'Homme Eau de Parfum is inspired by an orange bourbon sour, with bitter orange, oakwood and vetiver, so it suits a cooler night.

What I would skip: MYSLF Le Parfum in summer heat. The vanilla bourbon and black pepper are built for cold air, and MYSLF Absolu or L'Homme will wear lighter.

Eight Citrus, Blossom and Woody Scents

These are other ways to get a clean scent with a bit of character. Jo Malone London Orange Blossom Cologne is the light, floral one, clementine flower and white lilac over orange blossom and water lily. TOM FORD Taormina Orange Eau de Parfum is the citrus one, with blood orange, orange bigarade and oakmoss. KAYALI Marrakesh in a Bottle Orange Blossom | 24 Eau de Parfum has orange blossom, Turkish rose and cedarwood with warm spice. Jo Malone London Yuzu Zest Cologne is zippy, yuzu and clary sage with fir balsam.

For something sea-washed, Armani Beauty Acqua Di Gio Eau de Parfum Intense is Calabrian bergamot with ambery and woody accords, and Armani Beauty Acqua di Gio Eau de Parfum is marine, with green mandarin and sage over vetiver and patchouli. Both are for people who want a crisp, aquatic shape, and the Intense is the one with more amber and wood underneath.

Burberry Hero Eau de Parfum is the woodiest, with pine needle, benzoin and a cedarwood trio. Maison Louis Marie No.04 Bois de Balincourt is quiet sandalwood, vetiver and amber wood. The house describes a botanical tradition since 1792, and the scent reads calm and dry.

What I would skip: Burberry Hero in the heat. The pine and benzoin lean cozy, and the Jo Malone London cologne is lighter.

A Different Kind of Men's Scent

I think MYSLF Absolu is for someone who wants something between a citrus cologne and a woody evening scent. If you are new to orange blossom on a man's scent, start with the original MYSLF, then step up to Absolu for the ginger and extra blossom, and the Le Parfum if you want vanilla and pepper too. Compare it with the Tom Ford orange for a clear difference, one is floral and woody, the other is bright and bitter. Then wear whichever one you keep reaching for. Notes on paper only go so far, and the way a scent settles on your skin by evening is the real test. If you want to keep browsing, I also put together YSL Libre Dupe and YSL Myself Is Spelled MYSLF.
