ZANKOV Tops and Skirts

ZANKOV Tops and Skirts

Henry Zankov, born in Saint Petersburg and raised in New Jersey, spent years designing knitwear at Donna Karan and Diane von Furstenberg before founding ZANKOV in 2020. The label began with colorful knitwear and now covers a full wardrobe, from chiffon eveningwear to embellished shirting, as Vogue has reported. This edit looks at that range through tops, skirts, dresses and the pieces in between.

Collage of runway looks, campaign shots and street style outfits that capture the ZANKOV mood

Tops

Zankov began in knitwear and the tops still carry that training, though now they arrive in silk organza, chiffon and micro sequins as well as wool. I find it telling that the first thing he learned, how a knit sits on a body, shows up in the woven pieces too.

Skirts

Macrame cotton, silk midis and silk organza move the skirts away from the label's sweater beginnings. They keep the color instinct that made people notice him in the first place.

Dresses

Chiffon and silk maxis are the clearest example of the brand growing past knitwear. They suggest a designer who wanted a wider customer without losing his sense of color.

Trousers, shorts and a few more

Wide-leg and cropped wool crepe trousers sit with shorts, a scarf and a couple of dresses that rounded out the edit. It is the kind of range a label builds once the sweaters have proven the point.

A New York new guard

Vogue places Zankov in a new guard of New York designers who came up around Christopher John Rogers and Diotima's Rachel Scott. Seeing the full assortment together makes the case that the label has outgrown its knitwear tag.
