Agolde Sizing: Does Agolde Run Small, Big or True to Size?

Agolde Sizing: Does Agolde Run Small, Big or True to Size?

Agolde sizing is not a single rule: some styles are marked true to size, while several relaxed cuts are tagged to size down. This guide compares fit notes, rises, inseams, and fabric stretch across twelve pairs of AGOLDE jeans.

Start with the fit note, not the name

AGOLDE is not reliably one-size-fits-all: some jeans are marked true to size, while several relaxed cuts are tagged to size down. That sounds contradictory until you remember that this is a fit-led denim line: the brand says its team tests each fit and fabric, and its fit guide asks shoppers to compare waist, rise, inseam, and leg opening. Nordstrom's AGOLDE size information maps 23 to 000 and 34 to 18 where offered, so these numbers are not waist inches. For anyone searching the agolde size chart, I would use the size conversion as a starting point, then read the note for the exact wash and cut. Nordstrom calls the Ren High Waist Wide Leg and Low Curve Low Waist Wide Leg true to size, while Shopbop's notes tell shoppers to size down in 90s Pinch Waist, 90s Crop, and Lana. Those are retailer-specific product notes, not a universal brand rule. Rise and fabric matter just as much: Nordstrom describes its Low Curve Low Waist as nonstretch cotton, whereas Bloomingdale's Harper mid-rise uses comfort stretch with an 11.25-inch rise and 32-inch inseam. My practical move is to compare the measured rise and inseam to jeans I already like, then follow the product page's sizing instruction unless I want a deliberately loose fit.

High-rise jeans have different stretch

High-rise does not automatically mean tight, and a high waist is not a sizing instruction on its own. Nordstrom marks Ren High Waist Wide Leg Jeans in Foundation Pas true to size; the denim is rigid, nonstretch, and 100% regenerative cotton. Bloomingdale's gives Ren High Rise Wide Leg Jeans in Chord the same true-to-size note, but its denim has comfort stretch, a 12.25-inch rise, and a 27.5-inch inseam. Shopbop takes a different line on 90s Pinch Waist Jeans in Marshmallow: it says they run large and recommends one size down, with nonstretch cotton and a 12.25-inch rise. Bloomingdale's 90s Pinch Waist High Rise Straight Crop Jeans in Renew are marked true to size, though shoppers' fit feedback is mixed; the rise is 12 inches, with a 27.5-inch inseam and a little elastane. That mix is why I would not size all high-rise jeans alike. Check stretch first, then use the cut-specific note; if you're between sizes, compare the waistband of your own jeans before deciding whether rigid denim or a more forgiving fabric suits you.

Mid and low rises need separate checks

Mid and low rises are where I pay closest attention to whether a retailer suggests a size adjustment. Nordstrom marks the Low Curve Low Waist Wide Leg Jeans true to size and describes a low-slung waist, curved wide legs, and nonstretch 100% cotton. The Low Rise Loose Fit Jeans are more decisive: Nordstrom's fit experts say to go down one size, and the pair is nonstretch cotton. Shopbop advises sizing down in 90s Crop: Loose Straight Jeans and Lana Mid Rise Straight Jeans, both nonstretch cotton. Their measurements are quite different, though: the cropped cut has an 11.75-inch rise and 25.25-inch inseam, while Lana has the same rise and a 29.25-inch inseam. I would not let the words low or mid do the work of a fit note. Check the inseam against a jean you wear often, then decide whether you want the waist close or slouchy; a roomy seat can feel intentional, but an unexpectedly short crop is harder to fix.

Relaxed shapes still need a waist check

The relaxed shapes make the difference between a fit label and the silhouette you actually want. Nordstrom marks Arc Loose Wide Leg Jeans in Brink true to size; they are soft, nonstretch denim made from 100% regenerative cotton, cut with a subtle barrel leg. Bloomingdale's marks Harper Mid Rise Relaxed Straight Jeans in Reissue true to size and describes comfort-stretch fabric, but its customer fit feedback ranges from small to big. High Rise Baggy Jeans in Selection are also marked true to size, yet the denim is rigid and the cut is explicitly baggy, with a 12.25-inch rise and a 30.5-inch inseam. Shopbop's Low Slung Baggy Jeans in Brown Rice have an 11.75-inch rise, a 29.5-inch inseam, and nonstretch cotton, so the low-slung shape is part of the choice. My verdict: AGOLDE can run true to size, but size down where the exact style is described as large. I would start with the Ren or Harper if you want a more restrained silhouette, and choose the two baggy shapes only if you want the volume. Compare the rise and inseam on a pair you already like before you order; the waist number alone cannot predict how the leg will fall.
