Bag Charms by Price and Reviews: What $5 and $98 Get You
Does paying more get you more
The question I wanted answered was simple, is a $98 bag charm better reviewed than a $5 one. I put thirteen charms from $5 to $98 on one chart, with the rating on one axis and the price on the other. The short answer is that price does not buy a higher rating, but it does change what you get.

The top of the chart
The highest rating belongs to a $15.99 sweater bunny at 4.8 stars, and Coach's $55 Puffy Bag Charm matches it at 4.8, though with only 108 reviews. Below them at 4.7 are the $4.99 strawberry bee, the $6.99 plush bunny, the $13.50 Hello Kitty and Kate Spade's $40 heart AirTag charm. The cheap ones are as well liked as the designer ones, which tells me the rating is about the thrill of a cute thing for a few dollars.
The designer middle
At 4.6 stars you will find a $8.95 pom pom tassel next to Kate Spade's $40.60 dachshund, Coach's $95 beaded charm and Kate Spade's $98 bird. The designer ones have between about 200 and 640 reviews, so they have a smaller sample than the cheap ones. I would pay the extra for the metal and the leather, not for a better rating.
The lower end
A blue balloon dog, a leather clochette and BaubleBar's heart at $28 sit between 4.1 and 4.5 stars. BaubleBar's heart has only 53 reviews, so I would not read much into its 4.1. Ratings this low on a cheap product are usually about shipping or size, so read the one star reviews before you buy.
What I would buy
I would buy one cheap charm to see if I even like wearing one, and then one designer charm if I do. The reviews say you are not taking a risk with either.
