Camel and Burgundy Outfits to Try This Fall
In 1981, Anne-Marie Beretta designed the 101801 coat for Max Mara, a camel coat in wool and cashmere that the house still makes today. It is the reason so many of us think of camel as the color of a good coat, and the reason camel feels grown-up in a way tan never quite does.
Burgundy is camel's best partner. It is a red with enough brown in it to sit comfortably next to camel, so the two look rich together instead of loud. Camel keeps burgundy from looking too formal, and burgundy keeps camel from looking plain.
A quick test: wrap a burgundy scarf over a camel coat or sweater. If the two look like they came from the same shop, you are ready for everything below.
Start With One Piece of Each
Both colors live comfortably in leather and suede, so start there.
