Chorus Dresses and Tops

Chorus Dresses and Tops

Karishma Swali and her daughter Avantika founded Chorus in late 2025, building on four decades of embroidery and textile work at the Mumbai atelier Chanakya International. Its first resort collection draws on Indian chintz and the fluid vocabulary of the sari and the dhoti. This edit gathers the tops, dresses and skirts that turn that craft into eveningwear.

Tops

It is rare for a new label to arrive with forty years of craft behind it. Chorus comes from Chanakya International, a Mumbai atelier known for embroidery, and the pleated organza and embellished crepe tops here carry that skill in every stitch.

Dresses and skirts

Beaded jacquard, moire columns and pleated organza gowns draw on chintz, the sari and the dhoti. They are gathered and sculptural, closer to wearable architecture than to ordinary evening clothes.

A mother and daughter

Swali has described Chorus as textiles imagined as architecture, and her daughter Avantika is part of the core design team. I love a first collection that already knows exactly what it believes. I would let Chorus's architectural textiles lead me toward dresses with a strong sense of shape when I want that same feeling in what I wear.
