Elodie Dresses and Tops

Elodie Dresses and Tops

Elodie the Label is a contemporary women's label whose founder and founding year are not something I can verify, so this page sticks to what the clothes show. Its range is feminine and varied, from satin slip dresses and gingham midis to tops, cropped trench coats and knitwear, with cotton, poplin and satin among the fabrics. This edit gathers dresses like the Ozara cotton midi and Thora lace slip, tops and sweaters, faux suede and faux leather jackets, and satin pants, shorts and skirts.

Satin slips, midis and mini dresses

Elodie the Label is a smaller name, and I could not verify a founder story, a founding year or a city, so I would rather tell you what the clothes show than invent a legend. What I can say is that the label is known for feminine, contemporary dresses, and that it has made a gingham midi with a shirred bodice and spaghetti straps as part of a collaboration. Fabrics lean toward cotton, poplin and satin, and the Ozara 100% cotton midi dress is the most direct example. The satin and lace group is the dressy end: the Maris satin lace trim asymmetric dress, the Thora lace slip dress and the Thora maxi dress are the evening pieces, while the Iva strapless maxi dress is the one for a warm night. The Vienna and Alix mini dresses and the Claire bow tie shift dress are the shorter options, with the Lane scarf dress, the Fabien, the Maren and the Ariel dresses making up the rest. For an event with a dress code, my semi-formal wedding guest dresses explains how to read the invitation.

Tops, bodysuits and sweaters

The tops are where the label gets practical. The Ara off shoulder top, the Lacey strapless top and the Noir lace-back ribbed top are the dressier ones, and the Artis lace bodysuit works under a jacket. The Florence cropped shirt and the two Clair tie-neck shirts, one in 100% cotton, are the easy daytime pieces, with the Ilona, Oriel, Fleur and Emma tops filling in around them. For colder weeks there are knits: the Henni polo sweater, the Sloane wool-blend sweater and the Sloane contrast crew neck, plus the Perrin wool blend tank. The faux suede sleeveless top is the one texture change in the group. A pairing test: if the top has lace, keep the bottom plain, and if the top is plain, let the skirt or pant carry the satin. What I would skip is wearing the lace-back top under a coat with a heavy back collar, since the detail disappears. For simple pairings, everyday tops, pants and dresses has a few ideas.

Coats, cropped jackets and faux fur

Outerwear is a large group, and it moves from sharp to soft. The Rosalie cropped blazer is the tailored piece, and the Hudson double breast midi coat, the Port belted coat and the Atlas cord collar coat are the longer coats. The Genesis coat, the Walker high neck short coat, the Gracyn half coat and the Vincent half coat are shorter. For texture, the Maud faux fur collar faux leather jacket, the Frame faux fur short coat, the Terrain belted faux suede jacket and the Charles faux leather crop jacket do the work. A fit test for a cropped jacket: lift your arms and check that it stays at the waist, since a short jacket that rides up changes the whole outfit. If you are choosing between textures, my suede jacket guide is a good reference for the soft route.

Satin pants, skirts and shorts

The final group is the bottoms. The Dayna satin pants, the Hollis belted pleated pant and the Marlow faux leather pant are the trousers, and the Claude satin mini skirt, the Perrin mini skirt and the Reed sequined top and mini skirt are the short options. The Kaia and Valeska shorts round things out, and they are the pieces I would pair with the cotton shirts above. Satin is the thread through the brand, so the satin pants and skirt are the easiest way to repeat the idea from the dresses. For more on the skirt, there is the satin skirt in daytime, and for the leather side my guide to faux leather pants has a few pairings.

How I would wear it

I would start from one satin piece, either the Dayna pants or the Claude skirt, and add a simple tie-neck shirt. The coat can be the Rosalie blazer or a faux suede jacket, depending on the weather. Elodie the Label is a label I would take piece by piece, and the dresses are where I would look first, with the tops and coats added once the season turns.
