Elf Jelly Pop Primer Is Sold Out, So Try These Instead

The elf Jelly Pop Primer is sold out right now, so this is what to use in its place. Start with e.l.f.'s in-stock grip, putty and hydrating primers, then compare hydrating primers from other brands.

Gone for Now

e.l.f. was founded in June 2004 by Joseph Shamah and Scott Vincent Borba, with Shamah's father Alan, and it launched with 13 products. Fourteen years later, in 2018, the brand put out a watermelon-scented sticky gel primer with watermelon extract and vitamin E, and says it broke the internet. That was the Jelly Pop Dew Primer. The brand calls it its most-requested product ever.

I will say this plainly. The elf Jelly Pop Primer, the Jelly Pop Dew Primer, is sold out on e.l.f.'s own site as of September 28, 2026, and I cannot tell you if or when it comes back. So this edit is for people who wanted the sticky, hydrating primer feeling and need something else to buy today.

The first grid is e.l.f.'s own primers that are available right now. There are sticky gels, putties, a matte one, a glowy one and a green color corrector. The second is hydrating primers from other brands, for when you want the glow or the grip from a different formula.

Here is a test I like: primer on half your face, none on the other, then foundation on both. Check in the mirror after lunch. Whichever half looks better tells you if you need a primer at all.

e.l.f. Primers to Try Instead

The Power Grip Primer is the one closest in spirit to what people liked about Jelly Pop. It is a sticky gel with hyaluronic acid that hydrates and smooths, made to lock makeup in place. The Power Grip Primer + 4% Niacinamide adds niacinamide to help even skin tone. The Power Grip Matte Primer goes the other way, a mattifying formula to minimize the look of excess shine while it grips.

If you prefer a putty, e.l.f. has three. Luminous Putty Primer is the glowy one, with hyaluronic acid and vegan collagen to hydrate and plump. Poreless Putty Primer has a smooth, velvety texture and is described as suitable for oily, dry and combination skin. The Liquid Poreless Putty Primer is the same idea in liquid form, silky and weightless, with a blurred finish.

The last two are simpler. The Hydrating Face Primer is a vitamin-infused formula made as a smooth base for long-lasting makeup. The Tone Adjusting Face Primer has a neutralizing green tint, and the brand calls it its best color-correcting primer for redness.

Here is a pairing I like: the green primer only on the areas that are red, like around the nose or the cheeks, then a hydrating primer over the rest of the face.

What I would skip: the matte grip primer on dry skin. It is made to control shine, so if you already run dry, choose the hydrating gel or the luminous putty.

Hydrating Primers from Other Brands

If you like the idea of a grippy, hydrating base but want a different formula, these are the ones to look at. Milk Makeup's Hydro Grip is an invisible gel primer with hyaluronic acid and niacinamide that smooths, grips and holds in hydration. The Hydro Grip + Glow version adds light-reflecting pearls, with blue agave extract that grips for up to 12 hours, according to the brand. Fenty Beauty's Grip Trip is silicone-free, with maple sap extract to lock in makeup and butterfly lavender extract to hydrate.

For glow, Rare Beauty's Illuminating Primer is a water-based gel with ultra-fine pearls that cools on contact, with lotus, gardenia and white waterlily. ONE/SIZE's Secure the Glow is a tacky primer with beta glucan, hyaluronic acid and black tea, and the brand says it gives up to 24 hours of hydration. REFY's Glow and Sculpt is a hydrating glow serum primer with niacinamide, and it comes in clear.

Two are a bit different. MAC's Faceglass is a skin gloss and primer in one, non-sticky, which you can wear on the cheekbones as a highlighter or all over for a dewy look. caliray's So Blown is a matte primer with collagen peptides and niacinamide that blurs pores and hydrates while it mattifies. You can also wear it alone as a clear foundation.

Here is a trick I like: tap a glowy primer only on the high points and let a matte one handle the T-zone. Two primers, one face, no contradiction.

What I would skip: putting a glowy primer over an oily T-zone. Use caliray there.

Grip First, Glow Second

I think a primer earns its place only if you can feel it work. If your makeup slides by noon, get a grip formula. If your skin looks flat, get a glowy one. If neither is true, skip the step and save the time.

As for Jelly Pop, I would not wait for it. The sticky hydrating feeling is not that hard to find, and the Power Grip Primer is where I would start. Try it for a week and see if your makeup lasts longer.
