Fall Interview Outfits That Feel Calm and Confident

Fall Interview Outfits That Feel Calm and Confident

An interview outfit should feel like armor and look like you did not think about it. This is how I would dress for a first meeting this fall.

I think the best interview outfit is the one you forget you are wearing. It should be quiet, clean and comfortable enough that all of your attention goes to the conversation.

I start with the trousers. The Toteme crepe straight-leg pants in white are the crisp ones, the Bottega Veneta mélange-knit trousers in a neutral tone are the soft ones, and The Anteros Asher merino pants in red are the one for a creative interview. The Citizens of Humanity Anissa velvet pants in brown are the warm, textured option.

Collared Shirts

A collared shirt is the safest top for a first meeting, and it makes everything else look sharper.

The Another Tomorrow chambray shirt in a medium wash is the relaxed one, and The Anteros Lief poplin shirt in green is the one with a little color. The Partow Warren shirt in blue has a crisp collar, and the Lafayette 148 silk charmeuse shirt in fuchsia is the one for a confident entrance.

Pointed Toe Pumps

A pointed pump makes an outfit look finished. Choose one you can walk in, because you might have to cross a lobby and a conference room.

The Khaite Bella slingback in brown and The Row Liisa Three pump are the quiet ones, and the Roger Vivier Viv In The City slingback is the polished one. The Christian Louboutin Kate Max in black suede is the tall, sleek option.

Structured Bags

Your bag should hold a folder, a laptop and a notebook, and stand up on its own on the floor.

The Khaite Blake top handle bag in black is the neat one, and The Row Marlo 12 tote is the roomy one. The Balenciaga Rodeo top handle bag in brown is the soft one with a lock, and the Bembien Sera suede tote is the relaxed option for a casual office.

Walk In Feeling Like Yourself

A clean trouser, a good shirt, a pump you can walk in and a bag that holds everything. Wear it, forget about it and let the conversation do the talking.

If this is the kind of week you are dressing for, I would also read my notes on fall work outfits, long coat outfits, weekend errands outfits and airport outfits for fall.
