Givenchy Irresistible, Pear, Rose and a Ribbon Bottle

Irresistible Givenchy launched in 2020, and Fragrantica credits three perfumers with it: Fanny Bal, Dominique Ropion and Anne Flipo. The same trio signed the modern L'Interdit in 2018, which LVMH says was first created in 1957 by Hubert de Givenchy as a tribute to his friend Audrey Hepburn. So these are two Givenchy women's scents with the same hands behind them, one a white floral and one a pear and rose.

If you are searching givenchy irresistible, the notes are easy to picture. Pear and ambrette on top, a rose heart with iris, then Virginia cedar and musk. It is a floral-woody, sparkling first and soft after. Givenchy describes the bottle as a luminous prismatic shape with a textured pink ribbon wrapped around a metal top, a nod to the founder's love of couture fabrics.

Then the L'Interdit side. Givenchy L'Interdit Eau de Parfum is the white floral, with tuberose, jasmine, orange blossom and vetiver. Givenchy L'Interdit Parfum is the richer concentration in a black and gold bottle. Givenchy L'Interdit The Body Milk carries the same scent on skin, and I would layer it under the parfum if you like your scent to last through a long day of meetings or dinners.

What I would skip: Nectar if you want a dry, crisp pear. It is a pastry gourmand with pistachio and vanilla, and sweet is the whole point. If you like your florals dry and woody, stay with the original or Rose Velvet instead.

What I would skip: Very Good Girl if you want a quiet rose. It is a loud, fruity sweetness, closer to a party scent than a desk scent, and the redcurrant and lychee open big.

I think Irresistible is best for people who want a floral that feels bright but not sugary. The rose is the anchor, the cedar keeps it grown-up, and the Velvet and Nectar versions let you choose your mood, from rosier to sweeter. The L'Interdit line is there for anyone who would rather wear white flowers than pear. If you find it too sweet, the Jo Malone pears are lighter. If you want more rose, Moondance is the one to try.
