Malone Souliers Heels and Loafers

Malone Souliers Heels and Loafers

Malone Souliers was born in London in 2014, founded by the American designer Mary Alice Malone, and launched that February from a Mayfair showroom. Malone trained on the cordwainer course at London College of Fashion, then toured Italy to find the factories and artisans who make the shoes. This edit gathers Maureen pumps and mules, Rowan and Raven boots, Sylvie and Leila platforms, Rowe mules and Knightsbridge penny loafers.

Heels styled with tailored trousers, dresses, denim and polished city outfits.

Maureen pumps, mules and boots

Mary Alice Malone grew up in the Pennsylvania countryside and was on the Junior Olympic equestrian team, riding dressage, before she became a shoemaker. She trained on the cordwainer course at London College of Fashion, then toured Italy to find the factories and artisans she wanted to work with. She chose London for its craftsmanship culture, inspired by Savile Row and Jermyn Street, and launched Malone Souliers in February 2014 from a Mayfair showroom. In 2023 Coco Fong and Valerio Bava became Co-Creative Directors, with Malone as Founder and Chief Brand Director. The shoes are made in Italy and designed in London, and the Maureen is the one to know: the 70mm leather pump, the double-strap nappa pump, the croc-embossed 45mm mule and the Maureen Arc mules in suede and leather. Rowe mules and Diaz pumps add other pointed-toe shapes, while the Rowan snake-effect ankle boots and Raven croc-effect knee-high boots take the look into winter. The Sylvie and Leila platforms and Nomi satin sandals cover evenings. For a hand with the boots, there is a roundup of fall ankle boots, and brown heels is worth a look for the leather pumps.

Platforms, loafers and slingbacks

The second half has more range. The Knightsbridge leather penny loafers are the surprise, a polished flat from a brand known for slim straps. The Malia M-shaped pointed cap-toe patent leather pumps and the Janette metallic caged slingback pumps are the sharper evening pairs. The Sylvie platform sandals appear in leather and mesh and satin embellished versions, and the Yuna, Simi and Kali sandals are strappier. Rowe mules come in snakeskin and croc-effect patent leather, and the Riva suede knee-high boots are the tall option. What I would skip is wearing the Sylvie platforms with a hem that stops at the ankle bone; a longer line lets the platform and the strap show. For metallic shoes, the guide to silver heels has the right ideas, and if loafers are the draw, loafers for women covers penny, platform and suede pairs.

How I would wear it

I would build around the Maureen pump in leather and the Knightsbridge loafer in suede, one for dressed days and one for walking. Picture her on Jermyn Street on a Saturday, in a long wool coat and the Rowan boots. Malone left horses for shoes, and you can still see the discipline in how clean these lines are. If you want a bit of history for the heels, heels and their long, odd history is a fun place to go next.
