Mimchik is a Los Angeles womenswear label for fitted tops and outerwear with a wink. I like it for clothes that are made to be worn out, not kept pristine in the closet.

Mimchik Tops: Pieces Worth Their Price
Two founders and a coffee
I am a sucker for a brand that begins with a coffee date, and Mimchik did. Emma Marciano and Mia Kazovsky started talking in Los Angeles and launched their first collection in October 2022. Marciano grew up around fashion through her parents Maurice and Nathalie, and Kazovsky studied at Pratt and had already started the accessory label Dooz. The name is a blend of their two names, which tells you they do not take themselves too seriously.
Production stays local in Los Angeles, with deadstock wool and hand-distressed leather from Italian tanneries, so the clothes feel like a set of choices: close tailoring, leather you can live in, and a wink where a serious jacket or little dress might otherwise feel too polite. Their own About page frames the whole thing as contrasts, structure with freedom and polish with ease, and I think that is exactly right.
I like that Mimchik offers a bolder night-out shape and a jacket you keep reaching for, without making you pick one personality.

Between a base layer and the main event
These tops sit somewhere between a close base layer and a piece that can carry the room. The Elle Mesh Bodysuit is sheer on purpose, so I would wear it under a jacket or over a simple bra and not fight it. The Archer Top is the navy pause, and the One-shoulder Tie Top in vanilla loosens up the black-and-navy story.
The Triple Belt Halter Top is the more deliberate shape, since the bare back is the whole design. Picture her arriving at dinner in it with straight pants, then slipping on an oversized jacket when the air cools. What I would skip: deciding on the underlayer after the Elle Mesh Bodysuit arrives, because the mesh is meant to show.

Leather, faux fur and a night-out dress
This is where the brand's Los Angeles instinct for outerwear really shows. The Pint Leather Jacket is in a deep port shade, and the Ventura Leather Pant shares it, so I would happily wear them together or split them up with a plain tee. The Blouson Leather Jacket brings a snake print, and the Penny Maxi Faux Fur Coat is the dramatic layer that needs very little help.
Then the evening pieces. The Faux Fur Trimmed Gumdrop Dress is a strapless mini with plush trim, and the One Shoulder Chiffon Tie Mini Dress softens the mood in vanilla. The Twist Trouser and Saddle Jean are the everyday counterweight. In my fashion dreams, she throws the coat over the chiffon dress for a cold evening walk. One practical note: the leather needs professional cleaning, so I would think about care before reaching for it daily. I went deeper on a related idea in MAY MASHIAH Tops: Evening Pieces Worth the Price.

Clothes meant to be worn
This is why I see Mimchik as more than an outerwear label. Marciano and Kazovsky started with a shared eye for clothes that can be playful without losing their shape, and that tension runs through the mesh, the straps and the leather. I would not treat any of these jackets or dresses as something to save for a big night. Their best idea is a personal twist on a strong silhouette, then letting it be worn. My pick is one distinctive layer and one uncomplicated base. Although the closet tends to catch up quickly.
