Paige Jeans and Dresses

Paige Jeans and Dresses

Paige was founded in Los Angeles in 2004 by Paige Adams-Geller, a top fit model, together with her husband Michael Geller as Paige Premium Denim. The idea was to use a fit model's expertise to build jeans around fit and comfort, and it was one of the first denim brands launched by a female founder for both men and women. This edit gathers Anessa and Leenah wide legs, Mason and Cindy straights, Marlow flares, Arellia barrel legs, silk and cashmere tops and a handful of dresses.

Wide legs, barrels and skinnies

Paige is a Los Angeles denim label with a very practical origin. Paige Adams-Geller was one of the top fit models in the business, and she used that fit expertise to build the brand, which launched in 2004 as Paige Premium Denim with her husband Michael Geller. A men's line followed in late 2006, and the brand describes her as one of the first female founders to launch both men's and women's denim. That fit-first thinking is the thread through the first group. The Frances High Rise Wide Leg in Serata, the Sasha wide leg and the Anessa 31 inch wide legs, including the Welt Stitch Pocket style in Amora, all work the high-rise silhouette. Leenah comes as a slim wide-leg and as a mini patch pocket straight leg, Mason is an ankle mid-rise straight, and the Marlow skimmer is a flare. Arellia is the barrel-leg pair, and Gemma is the high-rise skinny for anyone who wants to stay close to the leg. For barrel shapes in particular, barrel jeans outfits, from ladylike to denim on denim gives the outfit math.

Anessa, Leenah and the straight cuts

The second group shows how many ways one jean name can travel. Anessa appears in high rise straight, reverse seamed beltloops in Yacht Club, a raw hem in Sunnie Distressed, rich chocolate wide leg and the Quincy crop wide-leg. Leenah appears again as a wide leg and in trousers with a wide waistband in Simonetta. The Manhattan Boot slim-fit and the Marlow boot-cut are for people who still love a boot, Sofia is a flare, and Stevie comes in a high-rise straight and a coated stovepipe. Cindy is a high-rise straight too. The Camden Mini Corduroy Skirt is the one non-jean piece here, and it works for the same reasons as the denim: a clean line and a little structure. What I would skip is pairing a flare or boot-cut with a chunky boot that has no room under the hem; choose a straight or barrel leg for that. For skirt ideas, the denim skirt is back in a grown-up way.

Blouses, knits and a sweatshirt

Paige is known for jeans, but its ready-to-wear is where the closet gets filled out. The Akari Embroidered Silk Blouse, the Wool-Cotton Inaya Blouse and the Rosalinda Paisley-Pattern Georgette Blouse are the dressier tops, and the Desano floral and printed satin shirts are the easy ones. Ursula is a high-neck mesh top, June is a knit lace shirt, and Tulum and Malia are simple tops. For colder days there is the Cashmere Eudora Cardigan and the Mazzi Ribbed Wool-Blend Jumper, plus the Queenie cotton short sleeve sweatshirt for the weekend. A pair of wide legs and a blouse is the simplest outfit here, and jeans and nice tops has more ways to do it.

Dresses, a coat and a mule loafer

The last group is the most surprising, and it is a good reminder that a denim label can dress you for the rest of the day. The Clementine Button-Through Denim Mini Dress is the one that stays close to the brand's roots, while the Juna Georgette Maxi, the Aries Paisley Silk Minidress and the Bonita Dress are the occasion options. The Uma Double Breasted Coat sits on top, the Wynn Mule Loafer is the shoe, and the Anessa 31 in Black Fog and Arellia Ankle Jeans with Tie are more denim for the road. For dresses, the denim dress guide with midis, minis and shirt styles has the shapes worth comparing.

The jeans I would build around

If I were building around Paige, I would start with one wide leg, probably an Anessa, and one straight, probably a Mason. Then I would add a silk blouse and a double-breasted coat. That is what you would expect from a founder who was a top fit model: the clothes start with how a body actually moves. For shoes, what shoes to wear with jeans, a hem-first guide is where I would look next.
