Plaid Princess

Plaid Princess

Plaid in playful new shapes, from smocked mini dresses to wide trousers and little tops. It is for anyone who wants a classic pattern to feel fresh and a little bit flirty.

Plaid is having a flirty moment, and I am here for it. The trick is to keep the pattern the star and the shape a little unexpected. Hill House Home's Cosima is a smocked mini with a full skirt that I would wear with ballet flats, and the MAUDE CLUB Rhea has a fur trim at the hem that turns a gingham slip into something I would wear to a winter party.

If a dress feels like too much, start with a pair of trousers. BODE's red plaid pair is loud in the best way, and Theory's Fluid pant in blue check goes with a plain white tee. Free People's Atlas mini in plum and the Reformation Adina top in pink gingham give you a softer, sweeter side of the pattern. Mix a check with a solid in the same tone and you cannot go wrong.
