Relaxed Suit

Relaxed Suit

Soft, unstructured tailoring for men in tonal browns, creams and greys. Full suits plus blazers and pleated trousers to mix into your own.

A relaxed suit is the one I reach for when I want to look put together without feeling buttoned up. The trick is soft shoulders, an easy trouser and colors that sit close together: browns, creams, greys and a dark navy. I went deeper on a related idea in Relaxed Tailoring: How Suit Jackets Are Getting Easier Again.

I like the Studiosuits coffee brown set and the Grandlemar hopsack suit worn exactly as they come, with a plain tee or an open collar shirt. If you would rather build it yourself, take the Alex Crane linen blazer in a warm chai and put it with NN07's Kay pleated trousers in wool or linen. A Gitman Vintage corduroy blazer over a white tee brings the same mood into fall, and Rhone's Commuter blazer is the one for days that run from the train to dinner. Keep the shoes simple, a loafer or a clean sneaker, and let the cut do the talking.
