Róhe

Róhe

Róhe is named after the Norwegian word for calm and operates out of a seventeenth century canal palace on Amsterdam's Golden Bend. Marieke Meulendijks and Maickel Weyers, a couple who met in a bar in a southern Dutch village in 2000, founded it in 2021 after she had spent years carrying the idea around. It has since become the label people reach for when they have exhausted the obvious quiet luxury options.

A brand and a building

The house on the Herengracht is one of the best preserved double-wide canal palaces in the city and came to them through a Dutch heritage foundation. Using it as the atelier is not a marketing gesture so much as an unusually literal statement of intent.

Leather, cashmere and Italian mills

The clothes are made with exclusive fabric development and Italian mills, and the recognisable pieces are the blouson jackets and sculptural midi dresses. Jennifer Lawrence and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wear it, which tells you where the brand sits.

Our honest take

Quiet luxury as a phrase is finished, but the appetite behind it is not. Róhe is what comes next, largely because it is a real design studio rather than a positioning exercise.
