ROTATE was founded in Copenhagen in 2018 by Jeanette Friis Madsen and Thora Valdimars, two former colleagues at Costume magazine who wanted party dresses that felt shorter and sexier than what was around. Their first drop was seven dresses, and the label has since added loungewear, bridal and a Copenhagen Fashion Week runway.

ROTATE Dresses and Tops

Dresses
Madsen and Valdimars started with seven dresses because they could not find the ones they wanted for the events they covered. The sequined maxis, tube dresses and ruched slips here are what that frustration became.

Tops, skirts and more
Sequined halters, faux fur skirts and suede jackets show the label moving past the dress. Madsen has said the pandemic pushed them toward more everyday clothing, and you can feel it here.

Scandi glam, loudly
The brand's own description is Scandi-glam, with bold silhouettes and attitude. I take that as a polite way of saying the clothes were made to be noticed.
