The Tatcha lip mask is the jelly-textured Kissu that started a whole shelf of lip care built on Japanese beauty rituals. Here is how I use it, the rest of the Tatcha lip lineup, and the overnight masks from other brands I would compare it with.
Tatcha Lip Mask Guide, Plus Overnight Masks to Compare

Tatcha started in 2009, when founder Vicky Tsai, dealing with severe dermatitis, met a modern-day geisha in Kyoto and left her corporate job to build a skincare line around Japanese beauty rituals. She has said every Tatcha product has to be anchored in a true story, and the Tatcha lip mask is a neat example. The Kissu uses Japanese peach extract to honor Girls' Day, the holiday also known as the Peach Festival.
That is the backstory. On the lips, The Kissu Hydrating & Plumping Lip Mask is a jelly gel, and Tatcha says to layer it generously overnight, apply a thin coat by day, or dab a little over lip color for gloss. Camellia oil and three rose extract are in there too. It comes in an Original version, and the plain Kissu Lip Mask listing carries the same formula. The Kissu Lip Treatment is a different job: a daily lip serum in a squeeze tube with sea kelp and carob fruit extract, meant to plump and restore the look of natural color over time.
Then come the Melting Lip Balms in Sheer Red, Nude, Light Pink and Sheer Purple. Tatcha describes them as balms that melt into an oil with a glassy, non-sticky finish, and they are meant to go over lipstick or liner for shine. The Kissu Lip Scrub, with peach seed and konjac, is the prep step.
A simple test: scrub once, then wear the jelly mask to bed for a few nights and check your lips in the morning.

Overnight masks from other brands
Tatcha is not the only brand with an overnight lip mask, and the gap between them is mostly texture. LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask is the one many people start with. The Grapefruit shade is noted as sweet and refreshing, and Matcha Bubble Tea as rich, sweet and slightly herbal. Both are leave-on overnight masks with vitamin C, murumuru seed and shea butter.
fresh Sugar Recovery Lip Mask Advanced Therapy is a cream with sugar, berry wax and hyaluronic filling spheres, made for extra dry lips. Kiehl's Buttermask Intense Repair Lip Treatment can go on overnight, or you can leave it on for 15 minutes as a mask. Drunk Elephant Plump-C Tripeptide Lippe Mask has a tripeptide and a vitamin C derivative, and you can use it morning and night without rinsing.
Gisou Honey Glaze Collagen Therapy Lip Mask is a buttery honey mask for glazed shine, with a lip hugging applicator. Fenty Beauty Plush Puddin' in Barbados Cherry has a pudding-like texture with pomegranate sterols. The Nourishing Lip Sleeping Mask in Cherry + Vanilla is a melting overnight mask with vanilla and cherry extract.
A pairing tip: use the Tatcha jelly at night and one of the thicker creams here on the weekend, when I have time to let it sit.
What I would skip: layering two heavy overnight masks on the same night. They mix on your pillow and neither one gets a fair test.

More lip masks, from tinted to clear
This grid is the daytime side of lip masks, since many of these work in a bag as well as on a nightstand. rhode Peptide Lip Boost in Unscented is a thick, balmy mask with a tingly-yet-comfy feel, and rhode suggests a thick layer during glam, then wipe off the excess before lip color. ILIA Lip Wrap is an overnight mask with papaya enzymes, so it exfoliates as it hydrates, and ILIA says to use it no more than two times per day.
Patrick Ta Major Glow Softening Lip Masque in She's Juicy is a balm with vegan lanolin and no sticky residue. tarte maracuja juicy lip nourishing melt mask in icing is a blushed pink, caramel scented balm you click to dispense. Charlotte Tilbury Life Changing Lip Mask in Pillow Talk melts on and leaves a soft base for lipstick.
For color: fel beauty Kissylips in Translucent Pink is a peptide mask you press onto lips, and LIXR Beauty Lip Lixr in Bulgarian Rose is a rose pink tinted mask with lanolin, beeswax and argan oil. Rare Beauty Find Comfort Lip Butter Balm in Easygoing is clear and unscented, which suits anyone who dislikes flavor or scent.
To try: apply ILIA at night on a clean lip and rhode the next morning, then compare how each one feels by lunchtime.
What I would skip: an exfoliating mask on lips that are already raw. Give them a plain balm first.

Choosing the one you will actually reach for
Start with the job you need done. For plain overnight repair, the Tatcha Kissu jelly, LANEIGE or Kiehl's will do it. For a mask you can wear under lipstick, look at Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk or Patrick Ta She's Juicy. If you want a hint of color, LIXR or fel beauty, and if you want nothing at all, Rare Beauty Easygoing. Pick one texture and use it for a full week before switching, because lips take a few nights to show the difference. The Tatcha lip mask is where I would begin, then I would add one thicker cream when my lips feel dry.
