The ghd flat iron started with three Yorkshire hairdressers who bought the rights to a ceramic heater straightener from a South Korean inventor. Here are twelve pieces from the brand, from the original 1-inch stylers to a cordless iron, a curler, a dryer and the spray that goes first.

Three Hairdressers, a Korean Invention and the ghd Flat Iron
The name is the first thing to know. ghd stands for good hair day, which is either a very confident mission statement or a very honest one. The company began in January 2001, when Robert Powls, Gary Douglas and Martin Penny, all hairdressers from Yorkshire, found a South Korean inventor who had worked out how to build a straightener around a wafer-thin ceramic heater. They bought the rights, brought the tool home and sold it first to salons. A direct online shop followed in 2002. I like that origin because it is so unglamorous: people who spent their days with hair in their hands saw a better tool and said yes. A ghd flat iron still carries some of that hairdresser logic, with a preset temperature and ceramic plates that stay even from end to end. The four below are the 1-inch stylers, and the 365F preset is the part they all share. Chronos is built around motion-responsive heat. Platinum+ predicts what your hair needs, Original is the classic, and Gold uses two heat sensors.

Wider, cordless and curly
Once you have the basic 1-inch iron, the next question is size and cord. The Max has plates 70 percent larger, which is the one I would reach for on long, thick or curly hair because every pass covers more. Chronos Max brings the motion-responsive heat to those wider plates, with close edges that let you get right to the root. Unplugged is the cordless one, about 20 minutes of styling on a charge and a heat-resistant case for the bag. It is not meant to replace the corded iron. It is for the touch-up before dinner, the hotel room, the airport. The Chronos Curve is a 1.25 inch curling iron, so the same 365F preset now makes loose waves. A practical tip: hold each section for a beat, then let the curl cool before you touch it. Brushing too soon is the usual reason a curl falls flat by lunch.
The rest of the routine
This is the part people forget. The Helios dryer has a 1875W brushless motor and a contoured nozzle, and I find the nozzle matters more than the wattage because it points the air down the hair instead of scattering it. The Duet Style is the odd one, a hot air styler that dries and styles at once, then has a Shine Shot mode that finishes at 365F. Bodyguard is the heat protectant, a light spray with a botanical scent that is supposed to leave no product feel. Mist it on damp hair before any heat. The paddle brush is for detangling without static and smoothing a ponytail. What I would skip is running a hot tool over hair that is still damp. Dry it down first, or use the Duet Style for that job, because pressing a flat iron on wet hair is how you get steam and frizz instead of shine.
Why I keep coming back
I came to this edit assuming it would be a straightener list, and it is really a small system. The brand began with one clever heater, and every piece since has been an attempt to make the same promise easier to keep: a preset temperature, a bit less guessing, a finish that looks like you left a salon. Pick the one that matches your hair, start with the spray, and give the iron a slow pass rather than three fast ones. That is the habit that matters most. If you want to keep browsing, I also put together The Flat That Can Replace Three Pairs of Heels and Nike Moon Shoe.
