WE11DONE Skirts and Knitwear: What to Buy First

WE11DONE Skirts and Knitwear: What to Buy First

WE11DONE is the Seoul label Jessica Jung and Dami Kwon started in 2015 after opening their concept store, Rare Market, a year earlier. I like it most when opposites share an outfit: soft knit beside a hard line, tailoring with a nod to sport.

From Rare Market to WE11DONE

I will admit I trust a label more when it starts with a shop. Jessica Jung and Dami Kwon opened Rare Market in Seoul in 2014 to bring lesser-known designers to local shoppers, and then, tired of not finding clothes they actually wanted to wear, they began making their own. WE11DONE followed in 2015. The name blends Rare Market with Well Done, and the 11 nods to the original team (a very friends-with-a-plan detail).

That search still shapes everything. The clothes are unisex streetwear that mixes Eastern and Western references, and the founders think about men's and women's clothes together instead of starting from a strict divide. The line moves between streetwear and tailoring, pushing familiar silhouettes into proportions you did not quite expect.

The label showed in Paris for the first time with Autumn/Winter 2020, and Jung and Kwon still lead the creative direction. I like that balance of independent taste and a bigger stage.

Skirts with a twist in the proportions

WE11DONE skirts show how one small change can shift a familiar shape. The Argyle Intarsia Mini Skirt takes an old-school knit motif and makes it short and sharp, the Nylon Mini Skirt changes the mood with a slick, technical feel, and the Tuck-detail Mini Skirt leaves construction to do the talking. The All Over Logo Mini Skirt is the loudest of the four, in a good way.

Picture her in the argyle with a clean tank and a long jacket to balance the shorter hem. I would wear the nylon one with a simple knit vest and keep everything else quiet. My rule: decide whether the pattern or the silhouette leads, and do not repeat both in the top half.

Tops that borrow from sport

The tops make the case for WE11DONE's habit of bending familiar codes. The Minimal Logo Tank Top keeps the branding quiet, and the Basketball Knit Vest brings a court reference into knitwear. The Mesh Track T-shirt leans into athletic language, and the Faux Fur Collar T-shirt is the odd one I would reach for when an outfit needs a single textural interruption.

In my fashion dreams, the tank sits under a roomy jacket with a mini skirt, and the vest goes over a plain long sleeve on a cold commute. What I would skip: the faux fur collar and a loud skirt on the same day. Pick one focal point. The Knit Tank Top is the quiet option here, handy when the lower half should carry the look.

A closet built around contrasts

This mix of dresses, knitwear and outerwear shows how wide the label's eye is. The Ribbed Knit Dress gives a single-piece outfit some texture, and the Knit Argyle Intarsia Cardigan carries the pattern into a layer. The Cowhide Print Work Jacket is the bolder surface, while the Reversible Coin Necklace is a small detail that can switch sides.

Picture her starting with the dress and throwing on the Faux Fur Belt Jacket for an evening, then wearing the Teddy ID Jersey Pant with the cardigan by day for something softer. I would begin with one tactile or printed piece and let the rest sit back. The brand's best trick is contrast, not piling every idea on at once.

Opposites in one outfit

What stays with me is how the founders think: first build a shop for clothes they could not easily find, then write their own vocabulary. This edit travels from an argyle mini to a mesh tee and jackets with surprising surfaces, all with one point of view. It keeps the clothes from belonging to one side of the closet. Although I suspect I would still end up wearing the cardigan with everything.
