Aleon

Aleon

Aleon is a luggage brand founded in 2017 in Davis, California by Carol Elms, who came out of the airline industry and built the line around aerospace-grade aluminium rather than moulded plastic. The name joins aluminium and eon, for cases meant to last a lifetime.

The whole proposition is the material. Aleon machines its shells from aerospace-grade aluminium alloy instead of injection-moulding polycarbonate, which is what nearly every competitor does, and the result runs roughly thirty percent lighter than a traditional plastic hard shell. Weatherproof and dustproof seals and TSA-approved locks come with it.

Elms founded the brand in Davis, California in 2017 after a career in aviation, aiming squarely at the gap between the established aluminium names and flimsy cases that do not survive a year. It remains a small independent operation selling through high-end retailers. Aluminium is also recyclable, which is the sustainability argument here rather than an offset scheme.

Our honest take

Worth flagging that this is luggage, not clothing, so it sits slightly apart from the rest of these edits. The press record is thin and mostly sponsored, so buy on the specification rather than on the story. If you want a case that outlives several phones, the machining is the reason.
