ALL THE WAYS Dresses and Blazers

ALL THE WAYS is a women's ready-to-wear label with a large range of dresses, tops, knits, pants, skirts, jackets and sets. It is built around day-to-night dressing, from daytime lace to sweater dresses, with pants that are described as borrowed from the boys with a feminine point of view. This edit gathers maxi and mini dresses, tailored blazers, trench coats, faux leather jackets, knit sweaters and matching knit skirt sets.

A collage of street style outfits mixing skirts, layers, denim, knits, and relaxed tailoring.

Maxi, mini and midi dresses

ALL THE WAYS is a different kind of brand story, because there is no founder tale to retell. It is a women's ready-to-wear label with a very large range of dresses, tops, knits, pants, skirts, jackets and sets, and its point of view is day-to-night dressing, from daytime lace to sweater dresses. So this edit is about the clothes and how they fit together, and the dresses are the easiest place to begin. The maxi dresses come in a handful of names: the Yaz, the Florrie, the Kendyl, the Sonnet and the Sienna, each one a long, easy shape for a dinner or a day that runs late. The Margot, the Bray strapless and the Nevina are the minis for nights out, and the Nikola midi sits between the two lengths. The Elizabeth blazer dress is the most practical piece in the group, because it reads as tailoring and works as a full outfit in one move. The Clarissa romper and the Charitie button up midi dress are the relaxed ones, good for the days that begin in the office and end at a restaurant. Pick the dress first, then add a jacket from the next group.

Blazers, trenches and faux leather

The outerwear is where the label shows the most range. The Colette, Tiana, Aurelia and Kourtney blazers and the Trina collarless blazer are the tailored options, and the Vandellia faux leather blazer and the Simone faux leather jacket bring a sharper edge. Trench coats come in three versions: the Teyana cropped trench, the Katlynne trench jacket and the Racine trench jacket. The Emory jacket and the Sophie poncho are the easy layers. My starting point would be a cropped trench over a slip-like dress, or a blazer over a plain knit top and a mini skirt. For a longer list of pieces that work with a blazer, I like thinking in terms of a fall capsule wardrobe. What I would skip is wearing the cropped trench with a maxi dress that falls past the hem of the coat, since the two lengths fight each other. Picture a woman in a faux leather jacket and a knit mini, the sleeves pushed up, walking to a late dinner.

Knit tops, cardigans and long sleeves

This group is all about layering. The Jamarni pullover sweater, the Tianna quarter zip sweater and the Dakota zip front sweater are the practical ones, and the Mary and Amorina cardigans are the softer ones. For tops, the Elsie knit top, the Viola top, the Analeah top, the Bria long sleeve top and the Riley long sleeve top are plain shapes meant to sit under a blazer or over a skirt. The Vanessa off shoulder top and the Alazne halter top are the evening pieces. If you like the sporty look of a quarter zip, my note on camel quarter-zips and contrast knits shows how to wear one with a skirt. A cardigan and a long sleeve top together make the most of a cold office, and the off shoulder top is best under a blazer when the room is not warm.

Knit sets, skirts and pants

The last group is about pieces that come together. The Stevie knit maxi skirt set, the Jude knit maxi skirt set, the Vivica skirt set and the Nikola knit mini skirt set are matching sets, and the Ember pant set is the trouser version. The pieces sell on their own, too: the Jamarni knit pant and the Laney knit pant are comfortable bottoms, the Elsie knit maxi skirt is long and easy, and the Emory mini skirt, Tiana mini skirt, Colette short and Trina micro short are the short ones. The label describes its pants as borrowed from the boys with a feminine point of view, and I like that the knit pants and shorts here lean into that. For ideas, look at knit sets and at matching sets worn like they are the whole idea. Wear a set whole for the day and then split it up later.

How I would wear it

I would start with one set and one blazer, because that is two outfits from three pieces. Add a dress for the weekend and a faux leather jacket for the night. ALL THE WAYS is a label for mixing, and the names in this edit are a good place to begin. A poncho over a knit set, or a cardigan over a halter top, shows how far a few pieces can stretch.
