Briogeo was founded in 2013 by Nancy Twine, who grew up making hair remedies in her family kitchen, and its formulas skip sulfates, silicones and parabens. Here is a tour of the line, from the Don't Despair, Repair range to the Scalp Revival and Style + Treat stylers.
Briogeo Began in a Family Kitchen, and It Still Thinks Like One

Nancy Twine spent nearly a decade in finance at Goldman Sachs before she left, in 2013, to start a hair brand. The idea came from her family kitchen, where she grew up mixing hair, skin and body remedies from oils, butters and extracts bought at a local health food store. She also noticed that most natural brands focused on the body, and very few took hair seriously at a prestige level. The name Briogeo joins the Italian brio, for vibrant, with the Latin geo, for earth. It launched with four products, a shampoo and three conditioners for different textures, and Sephora picked it up after Twine met one of its merchants at a trade show. The formulas are made without sulfates, silicones, parabens, phthalates and DEA, among others, which the brand counts as its six-free approach. The first row is Don't Despair, Repair, the range for damaged hair. The rice water shampoo concentrate is gentle and rich, the strengthening treatment balances protein and moisture, and the Miracle Mist is a leave-in that works on heat-damaged bonds. The avocado and kiwi mask is the brand's big moisture hit.

Repair and a moisture mask
Scalp first, then curls
The second row starts at the scalp, which is where the Scalp Revival range lives. The charcoal and biotin dry shampoo refreshes roots between washes, and the massager is a small hand-held tool that feels great in the shower. Curl Charisma is the curl range, and its conditioner hydrates, fights frizz and defines. Farewell Frizz is a blow-dry cream with heat protection for smooth styles. If your hair is curly, start with Curl Charisma, and if it is straight and puffy, start with Farewell Frizz. Use the dry shampoo at night so it has time to absorb.
Styling that treats
Style + Treat is the newest idea in the line, stylers that also condition. The air dry cream reduces frizz for up to 24 hours, which makes it the one for people who never blow-dry. The volume foam is light and versatile. The two oils are split by hair type: the weightless one for fine to medium hair, the gloss-to-oil for thick hair, with heat protection. What I would skip is layering an oil over the air dry cream on fine hair. Pick one, or your hair will look flat by lunch. Put stylers on damp hair, never soaking wet.
Where to begin
If your hair is damaged, begin with the rice water shampoo and the Miracle Mist. If it is dry, add the hair mask once a week. Briogeo became part of Wella in 2022, but the line still reads like Twine's kitchen experiments turned professional. It is a brand about hair that deserves attention, from someone who noticed nobody was paying it.
