Déhanche

Déhanche

Erin Webb, a California native who had already spent fourteen years in Paris and co-founded the outerwear label Nour Hammour, launched Déhanche in March 2022 with four belt styles. The name is French for the asymmetrical hip tilt seen in ancient Greek statues, and Webb designs each buckle like a piece of jewelry, cast-moulded rather than stamped, made in Italy to a specification she spent a year perfecting.

Accessories

Webb's founding premise was that a belt could be the focal point of an outfit rather than an afterthought holding up a waistband, and the accessories here are built on that logic. Buckles are treated as sculpture first, function second, which is exactly the reversal she says she wanted when she started the label.

More Accessories

A second run of accessories keeps pulling on the same thread: bold, ungimmicky hardware that reads from across a room, inspired in part by the silver X buckles Georgia O'Keeffe wore in a Tony Vaccaro photograph. It is a small, specific reference point, and it shows up again and again in how these pieces are shaped.

Jewelry

Déhanche's move into jewelry is a fairly direct translation of what it already knew how to do: take the language of a belt buckle and rebuild it in precious metal, sized for the body rather than the waist. Webb has described it as a natural return to the sculptural forms the brand started with in 2022.

Our honest take

Déhanche got a lot of attention very fast, partly on the strength of one pre-order belt Kendall Jenner wore before the site even launched, and it would be easy to write that off as a viral moment. It has held up better than most viral accessory brands because the design idea underneath, buckle as jewelry, is specific and consistent rather than trend-chasing.
