Flore Flore

Flore Flore

Flòrian van Zuilen launched Flore Flore out of Amsterdam in the summer of 2021, after years working in fashion roles that took her from New York to Copenhagen. The label exists to solve one specific problem, the cotton basic that actually fits, and its team reportedly ran more than eighty fittings over about eight months just to finalize the proportions of its original T-shirt styles.

Tops and shirting

This is the category the brand was built to fix, styled after the childhood memory van Zuilen has cited of buying basics from the French label Petit Bateau. The fit obsession is the whole pitch: a huge number of fittings went into getting the original T-shirt proportions right before the label ever shipped a single one to a store.

More Tops and shirting

A second wall of the same idea, more shapes on the same premise. Each style is reportedly named after a woman in the founder's circle, a small detail that fits a brand built around family: van Zuilen's own mother and grandmother both worked in fashion before her.

Knitwear

Knitwear extends the brand's core logic, quality cotton treated like it matters, into a heavier gauge. It is a smaller part of the assortment than the T-shirts, which tracks with a label whose reputation was made on a handful of very specific basics rather than a sprawling collection.

Trousers and shorts

Bottoms round out the wardrobe without straying far from the brand's central promise of quiet, well-cut cotton. The pieces are produced in Portugal, at a family-owned factory run by a mother and daughter, a supply chain detail that mirrors the brand's own origin story.

More from the collection

The rest of what the current edit is carrying, in the same understated register as everything above it. Flore Flore has grown quickly since 2021 into stockists like Net-a-Porter, Moda Operandi and Galeries Lafayette without changing the basic thesis: a cotton basic worth obsessing over.

Our honest take

It is a genuinely narrow idea, a single cotton tee taken very seriously, and that narrowness is the point rather than a limitation. Whether eighty fittings for four shirt styles reads as devotion or overkill probably depends on how many badly-fitting basics you have already thrown out.
