Two Swedish former magazine colleagues, Erik Torstensson and Jens Grede, launched FRAME out of Los Angeles in 2012 with a single pair of jeans. Neither had designed clothing before, so they built the brand the way marketers build a brand, obsessing over one perfect mid-blue skinny jean before anything else existed.
FRAME

Denim
This is the category the brand was built on, literally: the Le Skinny de Jeanne style that launched FRAME in 2012 remains its best known product. Torstensson and Grede came from advertising, not design school, and their pitch was narrower and more obsessive than most denim labels, just one shade of blue done exactly right.

More Denim
A deeper run of the fits and washes that grew out of that original single style, produced in Los Angeles the way the founders always insisted on. It is the part of the range where FRAME's founding idea, that one great pair of jeans could carry a whole brand, still holds up.
Trousers and shorts
FRAME expanded well past denim once the jeans found an audience, and trousers and shorts show that same instinct for a clean, minimal silhouette without heavy branding. The label's founders always described the goal as building a full wardrobe around that first product, not just repeating it.

Tops and shirting
Shirting and tops round out what has become a ready to wear line built on the back of one item, following the pattern the founders set from day one: watch what stylists and editors actually wear, then make that. It is unfussy by design, closer to a uniform than a statement.

Knitwear
Knitwear extends FRAME's move from single-product denim brand into a fuller wardrobe label, done in the same restrained, logo-light register as the jeans that started it. The brand's Los Angeles base and stylist-heavy early following still shape the ease of these pieces.

Jackets and blazers
Outerwear here keeps the same quiet, minimal branding that defined the original jeans, since Torstensson and Grede built FRAME's identity on the absence of obvious logos rather than the presence of them. It is tailoring meant to disappear into the rest of an outfit.
More from the collection
The remainder of the assortment across four retailers shows how far FRAME has traveled from its 2012 start as one denim style, now spanning cotton, leather and cashmere. The brand's growth into stores across multiple countries followed the same instinct that built the jeans: make one thing well, then expand carefully.

Our honest take
FRAME's advertising-executive origin story is unusual for a fashion label, and it shows in how disciplined the branding stays, understated, consistent, built around a single hero product rather than a rotating cast of it pieces. The flip side is that the newer ready to wear categories sometimes read as an extension of a marketing strategy rather than a design point of view of their own.
