Heirlome was founded in 2022 by Stephanie Suberville and her husband Jeffrey Axford on the idea that a skill can be an heirloom. Suberville left Monterrey for Parsons in 2004, spent two decades in New York fashion, and built the label out of what she describes as a constant state of nostalgia for Mexico. Every collection begins with an artisan rather than a trend.
Heirlome

Heir and lome
The name joins heir with lome, meaning tool, which is the founders' way of saying that craft gets passed down the same way jewellery does. Most of the artisans they work with are fifth generation or further, and each season introduces a new collaboration rather than repeating the last one.

Prints that begin as pottery
Suberville gives artisans full creative freedom months ahead of the season. Motifs painted by Tonala ceramist Jose Pajarito and by Purepecha artisans Bernardina Rivera Baltazar and her daughter Roselia have been digitised and printed onto silk, which is how a clay tradition ends up on a blouse.
Skirts and the Talavera season
Fall 2025 drew on Angelica Moreno's Talavera de la Reyna workshop in Puebla for hand-painted black and white patterning. The prints are not decoration applied afterwards; they are the blueprint the tailoring is built around.
Dresses, and the rebozo effect
The brand's signature is a silk rebozo handwoven by Arturo Estrada Hernandez in Santa Maria del Rio, who has been making them since he was nine. Each takes three months, and there has been a waiting list.
Trousers and the New York half
The line is largely made in New York with silk-wool from small Venetian mills, so the craft sits inside genuinely rigorous tailoring rather than replacing it.

Our honest take
Plenty of brands borrow artisanal technique and credit nobody. Heirlome names the maker, pays for the collaboration and builds the season around them, and the CFDA has noticed.
