Julietta

Julietta

Juliana Liden, a Brazil-born, Brooklyn-based self-taught designer, launched Julietta in 2021 after an earlier hair-accessories line failed to catch on. She pivoted to jewelry in 2022, hand-painting and reworking a stash of deadstock 1980s components into sculptural, earth- and sea-themed pieces that Moda Operandi picked up as its first global stockist.

Jewelry

Julietta's pieces are handcrafted in Liden's Dumbo, Brooklyn atelier, still built around the vintage deadstock and hand-painting technique that defined her 2022 debut collection. The shapes lean toward the earth and sea, tasseled pendants and conch-like forms, rather than anything minimal or discreet.

More Jewelry

A wider look at the same sculptural, vintage-referencing approach, drawing on touchstones like Christian Lacroix and Elsa Schiaparelli that Liden has cited as inspiration. It is a young brand, only a few years past its first trunk show, so this is close to the full range of what it currently makes.

Our honest take

Julietta's origin story, a failed hair accessories line rebuilt into jewelry almost by accident, gives the brand a scrappy, hand-built quality that is genuinely rare at this point in a label's life. The tradeoff is scale: with a small Brooklyn atelier behind it, do not expect the range to look like an established heritage jeweler's, and that is arguably the appeal.
