Lattafa Khamrah Qahwa and the Best Coffee Perfumes

Lattafa Khamrah Qahwa and the Best Coffee Perfumes

Lattafa Khamrah Qahwa is the coffee-spiced spin on the original Khamrah. Here are the coffee perfumes I would wear next to it, plus vanilla, spice and amber picks for when you want the same warmth in a different shape.

Lattafa Khamrah Qahwa came out in 2023, according to Lattafa's own product page, as a coffee-led sibling to the original Khamrah. Qahwa is the Arabic word for coffee, and the name tells you where this one is headed. Lattafa lists cinnamon, cardamom and ginger on top, praline, candied fruits and white flowers in the heart, and Arabica coffee, tonka beans, musk, benzoin and vanilla underneath. So it smells like a spiced cup of something warm with a sweet biscuit next to it, not a bitter espresso.

It is a fun one to start with because the coffee idea runs through the whole grid. Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Eau de Parfum pairs black coffee with white flowers and vanilla, and Black Opium Le Parfum is the more intense version with a vanilla quartet. KILIAN Paris Midnight Espresso lists coffee, rum, chocolate and bourbon vanilla. Boy Smells Vanilla Era adds espresso and pepper to vanilla, tulip and amber. Dolce&Gabbana The Only One is the floral one, with violet and coffee. BROWN GIRL Jane Casino is built around espresso affogato and golden rum cake. The original Lattafa Khamrah Eau de Parfum sits here too, so you can compare the two side by side.

A quick test: spray Khamrah Qahwa on one wrist and the original on the other, and wait twenty minutes. The top notes settle down and you will see which base you keep leaning in to smell.

Vanilla, spice and a little milk foam

Not every warm perfume needs coffee in it. These are the ones where vanilla and spice do the work, and they are nice to rotate in when a single gourmand starts to feel like a uniform. TOM FORD Santal Blush leads with cinnamon bark oil, ylang-ylang and Australian sandalwood, so it is warm and woody more than sweet. DedCool Mocha Magic keeps the coffee thread with espresso, mocha and tonka bean. NEST New York Cardamom Latte is cardamom, jasmine and coconut milk, which reads soft and creamy. PHLUR Vanilla Canyon mixes velvet plum, wild honey, Madagascar vanilla and oak wood.

FUGAZZI Vanilla Haze goes full dessert with creme brulee, tonka bean and sweet musk. Prada Infusion de Santal Chai is a chai latte accord with sandalwood and citrus, milky and quiet. KAYALI FREEDOM MUSK LATTE | 41 opens with mandarin, cinnamon and pink pepper before the cafe latte notes arrive. Carolina Herrera Good Girl Blush is the lightest of the group, a warm floral with a double dose of vanilla.

How to wear them: spray once on the chest and once on a scarf collar or the inside of a sweater sleeve. Warm notes hang on fabric for a long time.

What I would skip: layering two very sweet gourmands on a hot day. The sugar piles up and nothing has room to breathe. Pair a sweet one with a woody one like the Prada chai instead.

Amber and resin warmth

Amber is the base that makes a fragrance feel like a soft blanket, and this grid is where the coffee idea turns into something deeper and more resinous. Prada Paradoxe opens on neroli bud and settles into white amber and white musk, and the bottle is refillable. BURBERRY Goddess Amber Vanilla Intense lists maple syrup, vanilla extracts and an ambery accord, so it is sweet with some weight. Chloe Eau de Parfum is peony, rose, honey and cedarwood, more powdery than smoky.

CYKLAR Amber Hour is a roll-on perfume oil with amber resin, palo santo and tonka bean, and it is alcohol free. That makes it the easiest one to carry around and touch up. Marc Jacobs Perfect Absolute pairs a caramelized fig accord with jasmine absolu and an amber accord. The 7 Virtues Amber Orchid has golden apple, vanilla orchid, wild magnolia and creamy sandalwood. Viktor&Rolf Spicebomb Extreme brings grapefruit, cinnamon and woody amber, and Mugler Alien has jasmine sambac, cashmeran wood and amber gris.

A simple tip: apply the roll-on to pulse points first and a spray over it, and the amber holds the brighter notes for longer.

What I would skip: Spicebomb Extreme if you want something soft and milky. It is an explosive, spiced men's fragrance by its own description, and it smells like it. Reach for Chloe or the 7 Virtues instead.

How to wear a warm gourmand

Warm gourmands are easy to overdo, so start with a single spray on the chest and one on the wrist. Give it ten minutes before deciding whether it needs more. Coffee and spice perfumes like Lattafa Khamrah Qahwa, Kilian Midnight Espresso and Black Opium tend to smell best in cool weather and in the evening, when the sweetness has somewhere to sit. If you want less sugar, move toward the woody ones, like TOM FORD Santal Blush or Prada Infusion de Santal Chai. If you want more comfort, go for the vanilla and amber picks.

Try a scent on skin before you commit. Notes read differently on everyone, and the dry down is what you live with all day. Store bottles away from sun and heat, and keep a small roll-on like CYKLAR Amber Hour in your bag for touch ups. Mostly, pick the one you keep smelling on your own sleeve.
