Roland Chelly, the son of a tailor, launched Majestic Filatures out of Paris in 1989 with a fairly narrow, almost stubborn idea: take the plain T-shirt and give it the attention usually reserved for tailoring. The house built its own yarns rather than buying stock fabric, folding cashmere, silk, linen and wool into what started as a cotton-only proposition, and it still manufactures exclusively in France and Europe outside of Mongolian cashmere.
MAJESTIC FILATURES

Tops and shirting
This is the category the entire house was built to dignify, going back to 1989 when a T-shirt on the European ready-to-wear market meant something closer to a basic than a design object. The house's decision to develop its own yarn blends rather than sourcing off the shelf is most visible right here.

More Tops and shirting
More of the same instinct, applied across weights and finishes, from a Paris workshop that reportedly produced for houses like Sonia Rykiel and Dior before turning its full attention to its own name. The through-line is a refusal to treat a simple top as a simple thing to make.

Knitwear
Knitwear is where the brand's custom-yarn approach is easiest to feel directly against the skin, since Majestic Filatures has spent more than three decades mixing cashmere, wool and silk into blends designed in-house rather than bought pre-made. It is a quieter, more technical kind of luxury than a logo-forward brand offers.
More from the collection
The rest of the edit extends a one-product idea, the upgraded T-shirt, into a fuller wardrobe without losing the original obsession with fiber quality. Thirty-plus years in, the house is still run on the same premise Roland Chelly started with in a Paris atelier.

Our honest take
There is something genuinely unusual about a brand that has spent over three decades refining one category before letting it expand, and the European-only manufacturing claim is specific enough to be checkable rather than vague marketing language. It is not a flashy label, but the yarn-development story gives it more substance than most basics-focused brands can back up.
