Mindi Mond New York

Mindi Mond New York

Mindi Mond founded her eponymous fine jewelry line in New York in 2009, after a career as a fashion merchandiser in the city's garment district. She started by buying antique and estate gems and finished pieces specifically to take them apart and rework them into new designs, a habit of repurposing that became the brand's working method before she launched her original Clarity Collection in 2012.

Jewelry

Because Mond's process began with disassembling estate pieces rather than starting from a blank sketch, the jewelry here tends to carry an inherited, slightly antique sensibility even in newer designs. It reads as jewelry with a sense of history built in, not jewelry styled to look vintage after the fact. That distinction matters more than it sounds like it should.

More Jewelry

The brand also offers custom orders, letting a client tailor a piece to her own taste, which fits a label built around reworking existing stones rather than mass production. This second wall keeps to that same instinct: gemstone-forward pieces meant to be personal rather than purely decorative. It suits someone shopping for jewelry with a story attached, not just a look.

Our honest take

Starting a fine jewelry line by taking apart other people's old pieces is an unusually hands-on way in, and it gives Mond's designs a texture that pieces designed purely on paper tend to lack. The strongest pieces here are the ones that clearly show that reworked, layered quality. Some of the simpler pieces feel less distinct by comparison, more generic gemstone jewelry than the brand's stronger, more considered work.
