Moritz Glik

Moritz Glik

Moritz Glik founded his eponymous jewelry line in New York in 2003, after leaving a shoe company he ran in his native Belo Horizonte, Brazil and teaching himself jewelry-making once he arrived in the city in 1991. His signature invention, the Kaleidoscope Shaker, encases loose, uncut gemstones inside capsules of white sapphire crystal and gold so the stones move freely

Jewelry

This grid is built around Glik's core idea, gemstones that are allowed to move instead of being locked into a mount, a technique he landed on after years of self-taught bench work following a career shift out of footwear. It is a genuinely unusual approach in fine jewelry, where stones are almost always fixed. The kinetic effect is the whole point, not a gimmick layered on afterward.

More Jewelry

A second wall of pieces shows how far the Kaleidoscope Shaker concept stretches across earrings, pendants and bracelets, all built on the same principle of gems suspended in white sapphire crystal capsules. Glik has described the idea coming to him while watching loose stones shift inside a lucite box on his own workbench. It holds up as a signature precisely because it is repeated with this much range.

Still more Jewelry

By this point in the edit the throughline is obvious: classical architectural references and fine-art influence applied to a genuinely novel setting technique, made by a designer with no formal jewelry training. Much of the production happens in Portugal, where Glik splits his time from his New York studio. It is a label that never really strayed from the one idea that made it distinctive.

Even more Jewelry

The final wall keeps the same logic going, kaleidoscopic, movement-driven settings in varying stone combinations and metal tones. Given how much of the assortment rests on this single technique, the range on display here is really a study in how many ways one idea can be reworked. It is more depth than breadth, and that is by design.

Our honest take

Moritz Glik's story, a shoe designer from Belo Horizonte who reinvented himself as a self-taught bench jeweler in New York, tracks with jewelry that genuinely behaves differently than most fine jewelry on the market. The Kaleidoscope Shaker is a real technical idea, not just a marketing line, and the assortment leans on it hard. Whether that reads as focus or repetition will depend on how much you want your jewelry to move.
