Ramy Brook Jeans and Blazers

Ramy Brook Jeans and Blazers

Ramy Brook was founded in 2010 in New York City by designer Ramy Brook Sharp, who started because she wanted a top to wear with jeans and jewelry and could not find one. Her first collection was six tops and one dress, launched from her Upper East Side apartment with trunk shows, and the label is now known for polished day-to-night pieces. This edit gathers mini dresses and jumpsuits, sailor and wide-leg jeans, ruffle silk tops, cashmere knits and tweed and velvet jackets.

A collage of polished city outfits, playful dresses, denim, leather, and relaxed occasion looks.

Minis, jumpsuits and sequin dresses

Ramy Brook Sharp started her label in New York in 2010 for a very simple reason: she wanted a top to wear with jeans and jewelry and could not find one, so she designed it herself. She had no formal fashion degree and worked with a patternmaker introduced by friends in the industry. The first collection was six tops and one dress, launched from her Upper East Side apartment with trunk shows. Everything on this page grows from that start, which is why even the dresses feel like tops with a longer line. The Ellen tweed mini dress, the Peyton corduroy mini dress and the Isabella denim mini dress are the textured ones. The Glory sequin mock-neck mini and the Kimberly plunging floral sequin mini are the party pair, while the Natalie wool turtleneck dress and the Arlette knitted midi dress are the cold-weather options. The Irene tie neck wide leg jumpsuit and the Zahara wide-leg jumpsuit are the easy one-piece outfits. The Karma satin scarf gown is the most formal piece, and my mini dress edit is the next read if you want more short options.

Jeans, trousers and a sequin skirt

If the brand began with a top for jeans, this group is the jeans. The Helena high rise flared sailor jeans in medium wash and the Helena velvet high rise sailor button jeans in black share a name and a sailor-button detail, which suits anyone who likes a long leg line. The Nadia straight-leg jeans and the Valentina textured high-rise jeans are the straighter cuts, and the Elena embellished wide-leg jeans and the Liv velveteen wide leg jeans in heritage brown are the dressier ones. Trousers include the Oscar and Leslie pleated wide-leg pants, the Jasmine pinstriped wide-leg trousers, the Athena side-split wide-leg cotton pants and the Helena button trim pants. The Annita sequin midi skirt is the easy way to make a sweater look like evening. For the hem question, what shoes to wear with jeans is useful. And if you are deciding on a cut, wide legs and straight cuts are a good reference. What I would skip is wearing the sailor jeans with a long coat that covers the button detail, since it is the point of the pair.

Silk, ruffles and soft knits

This is the group closest to the brand's first idea. The Claire ruffle front silk top and the Claire silk ruffle blouse are two takes on the same shape, and the Danielle sleeveless ruffle blouse and the Camila draped sleeveless top are the lighter options. The Lena lace-trim square-neck top and the Dina bodysuit are neat pieces under a jacket, and the Hailey embellished denim crop shirt is the playful one. The Violet tweed longline vest, the Lana feather trim wool-blend top and the Nina wool threaded-knit sweater bring in texture, while the Thea turtleneck tee and the Cathy rib-knit cashmere cardigan are the calm ones. I would pair the cardigan with a silk top underneath. Browse camel and contrast-trim knits if you want more layering ideas. The label began with a top for jeans and jewelry, and the ruffle blouses are that thought in its clearest form.

Jackets, a capelet and swim

The last group adds a little polish. The Delia tweed jacket, the Liana cotton-blend velvet blazer and the Adela lace-trim blazer are the tailored picks, and the Nola faux fur knit jacket is the cozy one. The Gia long-sleeve capelet is more unusual, a layer to drape over a dress. The Carolyn satin mini shirtdress is a day-to-night piece, and the braided Jayda one-piece swimsuit and the Benni bikini bottoms are the vacation ones. The brand is sold in 250+ boutiques and has a Madison Avenue flagship, yet it all began in one apartment with trunk shows. The tweed jacket is the one I would wear over the satin shirtdress. For the blazers, I like the fall capsule wardrobe way of thinking.

How I would wear it

I would pick one silk top, one pair of Helena jeans and one blazer, and wear them in a different order all week. Ramy Brook Sharp started with six tops and a dress, and that is still a good way to shop here. Choose a few pieces you will reach for again, wear them hard, and add one more each season.

If you want to keep going, Maison Margiela Jeans and Coats and Diesel Jeans and Sunglasses pair well with this edit.
