Selena Gomez Perfume: Rare Beauty's Vanilla Caramel Scent

Selena Gomez Perfume: Rare Beauty's Vanilla Caramel Scent

Selena Gomez's perfume is Rare Beauty's Rare Eau de Parfum, her first fine fragrance, launched in August 2025 with caramel and vanilla. I go through the four eau de parfums, the layering balms and the mists.

Selena Gomez launched Rare Beauty in 2020 as a makeup brand built on the idea that nobody should feel measured against a perfect face, and the brand backs the Rare Impact Fund, which supports mental health services. It took until August 7, 2025 for the first fine fragrance, and Harper's Bazaar reports that Gomez and the team spent about two years on it. Rare Beauty perfume is a warm gourmand made in France with perfumer Jérôme Epinette of Robertet: caramel, pistachio and pink pepper first, then vanilla, ginger and cocoa, then sandalwood, tonka bean and skin musks. What people talk about most is the bottle. Rare Beauty worked with hand therapists and packaging engineers on a twist-lock cap and an oversized pump you can press with a palm, and the brand's chief product officer has said Gomez, who lives with lupus, kept choosing the prototypes that were easier to use. I like a scent whose story is about who gets to wear it.

Wear it under the scent

Grid two is the layering shelf, and it is the idea I find most useful. The launch came with four balms, including Amber Vanilla and Woody Oak, and the brand suggests wearing a fragrance layering balm on pulse points first and spraying the eau de parfum on top. Amber Vanilla is warm and delicious, so under the caramel it reads like turning up the volume. Woody Oak is earthy and woody, and it pulls the sweetness toward something drier, which is how I would wear it on a cold morning. Sweet Marshmallow and Fruity Pear are named for exactly what they promise, and they suit someone who wants a softer, sweeter skin scent without a full perfume. The trick is to keep the balm thin. Warm it between two fingers, press it on the wrists and behind the ears, and wait a minute before spraying. Skin holds scent better when it is a little moisturized, and you get a personal blend that nobody else is wearing.

The mist that came first

The Find Comfort line is where Rare Beauty started with scent, launching its body collection in December 2023 before the perfume existed. The body and hair mist is made with biotin, niacinamide and peach flower extract, with notes of lemon zest, jasmine and cashmere wood, and Gomez has said fragrance helps her disconnect from everyday stresses. Awaken Confidence goes juicier, with peach and flower blossom, while Feel Seen is a hydrating mist and the quietest of the three. The gift set pairs the full-size eau de parfum with a travel spray, which makes it the easy way to bring the scent to someone else. What I would skip is holding the bottle close and drenching one spot. The brand says to spritz from arm's length over hair and body, and the fine mist looks better when it lands as a cloud. Shake first, spray across the shoulders, and let it settle.

Wearing it lightly

Whatever you pick from this edit, the best way to wear it is lightly. Rare Eau de Parfum is designed to last for hours, so one or two presses are plenty, and the wide pump means you do not have to aim precisely. The mist is for the gym bag and the desk drawer, the balms are for a personal mix, and the rollerballs are for handbags. It is a smart, friendly shelf, and that is the part of the story I keep coming back to. A brand that starts from who can open the bottle is asking a better question than most fragrance launches. Start with one product, learn what you like, and add the rest slowly.
