RIER

RIER

RIER translates the practical memory of the Alps into clothing that works in the city. Founded in Paris in 2019 by South Tyrol-born designer Andreas Steiner, the label draws on local artisans, natural materials, and the mountain garments of his childhood. Wool fleece, clean shapes, and a restrained palette make the idea feel current rather than folkloric.

Wool Layers With Purpose

RIER's sweaters and fleece pieces make the label's central proposition easy to understand. Andreas Steiner founded the brand in 2019 after working at Prada, Miu Miu, and Louis Vuitton, then returned to the South Tyrol traditions that shaped his eye. The result is natural wool, clean closures, and warmth that does not look like technical gear.

Alpine Shapes Reworked

The rest of the selection keeps the mountain reference but moves it into dresses, shorts, and boots. Steiner has described wanting to bring a functionality from the mountains into the city, working with local artisans and regional materials rather than copying a costume. Wear one practical piece with something polished and the balance holds.

Our honest take

RIER is for someone who wants clothing to earn its place through use. The silhouettes are reduced, but the materials and construction give them enough presence for more than a weekend outside town. If you take one thing away, buy the wool layer you can imagine wearing on a train, in a meeting, and on a long walk afterward.
