SLVRLAKE

SLVRLAKE

Louise and Gary Edgley, a UK-born husband and wife who had both worked in fashion retail and buying, founded SLVRLAKE in Los Angeles in 2018. They built it around a narrow idea: premium denim, manufactured ethically in Los Angeles, with clean cuts and no distressing or heavy branding, after years of testing before the first collection shipped.

Denim

This is the category SLVRLAKE was built on, launched with only three key styles, including the London Jean, all of which reportedly stayed in the line for years afterward. The Edgleys' stated complaint about the category, that premium denim had quietly moved production offshore and lost quality, is the whole reason the label exists.

Also in the edit

A mix of pieces that show how the label has grown past its original three styles while keeping the same unfussy, logo-light attitude. It stays close to the 90s off-duty supermodel reference point the founders have pointed to repeatedly.

Tops and shirting

Tops extend SLVRLAKE's minimal approach beyond denim, built with the same emphasis on fabric quality the Edgleys have talked about since launch, including GOTS organic cotton and hemp blends. Nothing here is trying to compete with the jeans for attention.

Trousers and shorts

Trousers and shorts carry over the clean, streamlined cutting that defines the denim, made in the same Los Angeles facilities the brand has used since 2018. It is a small, disciplined range rather than a sprawling one.

More from the collection

The remaining pieces round out a brand that is still relatively young and still fairly narrow in scope, spread here across three retailers. It is a useful read on how far SLVRLAKE has stretched its original denim-only premise.

Our honest take

SLVRLAKE's founders had a specific complaint, that premium denim had gotten sloppy, and building a brand to fix one thing well is a good instinct that shows in the fit of the jeans. The categories outside denim are newer and less distinctive, so this edit rewards shoppers who came for the jeans in the first place.
