Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas for Every Kind of Table

Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas for Every Kind of Table

Thanksgiving dressing is a puzzle, because you need to look nice and still have room for a second plate. These are the sweaters, skirts, loafers and earrings I would pick for every kind of table.

The Thanksgiving outfit has one job: look nice at the table and still let you breathe after dessert. I think about it a lot, usually in the days before, usually while standing in front of my closet.

The answer is a sweater with some presence. The A.W.A.K.E. MODE cable-knit in navy is the cozy one for a family table, the NILI LOTAN Laurel in dark grey is the calm one, and the All Three Finn in nude is the one I would wear with a long skirt. The Altuzarra Coleman in black is for anyone who wants things a little more serious.

Midi and Maxi Skirts

A skirt gives you room, and it looks like you made an effort without looking like you are going to a wedding.

The Heirlome Rosario wool-blend maxi in dark grey is the sensible choice, and the Ashlyn Suzu knit maxi in off-white is the soft one. The Another Tomorrow satin skirt in yellow is the one for a table that likes a little shine, and the Ulla Johnson Meadow floral midi is the one for the cousin who always notices outfits.

Loafers

Loafers are the smart choice when you know you will be in and out of the kitchen. They look polished and you can walk on them.

The Saint Laurent Le Loafers and the Miu Miu leather loafers in brown are the ones to wear with everything, and the Roger Vivier Viv Rangers in navy is the one with a little extra shine. The Black Suede Studio Gabby is backless, so it is the easy slip-on for a long day.

Drop Earrings

Earrings are the easiest way to make a sweater look dressed up. Pick one pair, keep the rest quiet, and call it done.

The Sophie Bille Brahe pearl drops are the soft ones for a cream sweater, and the Ten Thousand Things jade pair is for when you want some green near your face. The Le Sundial onyx and jade earrings are the dark ones, and the Sylvia Toledano Ava pair adds color without much noise.

Dress for the Second Plate

A great sweater, a skirt with room, shoes for the kitchen and one pair of earrings. Dress for the table you are going to, and you will have a better time.
