Iris Serban Gowns and Bridal

Iris Serban Gowns and Bridal

Iris Serban launched her label in Bucharest in 2012 after studying Fashion Design and Decorative Arts in the city. The house is known for handmade draping, sculptural silhouettes in silk and fine fabrics, and signature flowers, and it has shown at London and Paris Fashion Weeks. This edit gathers pleated cape gowns, feather-trim maxi dresses, floral-appliqué one-shoulder dresses and ruched strapless gowns.

Feathers, pleats and fabric flowers

Iris Serban launched her label in 2012 in Bucharest, after studying Fashion Design and Decorative Arts in the city. That training shows in the clothes. The house is known for classic sophistication and couture-level expertise, and the signature is handmade draping, sculptural silhouettes in silk and fine fabrics, and small fabric flowers that appear exactly where the eye lands. Her work has been shown at London and Paris Fashion Weeks, which is a long way from a first collection in Romania. This first group is the draped and feathered side of the house. The Sonya pleated cape gown and the Carla feather-trimmed pleated gown are the most dramatic, the Lera and Viola and Mikael feather-trim dresses repeat the idea at different lengths, and the Giselle feather strapless maxi dress is the cleanest version of it. For flowers, look at the Shanya floral-embellished asymmetric dress, the Renee floral-appliqué one-shoulder maxi dress and the Mey floral-appliqué pleated gown. The Yasmina scarf gown and the Mara and Marisa draped maxi dresses are the quieter, flowing choices. Picture a guest arriving at a winter black tie wedding in the Sonya cape gown, no coat needed for the first hour. For the dress code itself, my black tie wedding guest dress guide is a useful companion, and the garden formal wedding guest dress edit is the lighter version.

Ruched, strapless and one-shoulder gowns

The second group leans into shape. The Kim strapless metallic maxi dress and the Ruched strapless maxi dress are for anyone who wants a clean line from the shoulders down, while the Ruched floral-detail maxi dress and the Anette flower-embellished maxi dress bring the signature flowers in. The Alicia pleated one-shoulder maxi dress, the Penelope one-shoulder draped gown and the Draped one-shoulder dress share a neckline that works with a good pair of earrings and nothing else. The Melissa draped ombre-print maxi dress is the most colorful, and the Floralia gown and the Floris maxi dress are the soft, flower-led options. What I would skip is wearing a heavy necklace with any of the one-shoulder gowns, since the draping already creates a strong diagonal across the body. A practical test for any maxi: stand, sit and climb a few stairs in it before the night, because fabric that is draped and ruched behaves differently in each position. If you are shopping for a wedding party, see these bridesmaid dresses in long, midi and one shoulder shapes, or read how evening dresses got bolder.

How I would wear it

I would choose one Iris Serban gown and let it carry the whole evening, the Sonya pleated cape gown for a winter ceremony or the Penelope one-shoulder draped gown for a dinner. A dress with this much handwork needs very little else: simple shoes, a small clutch and hair pulled back. For the season's guest outfits more broadly, I would read fall 2026 wedding guest dress trends.
