A Brownstone That Trades Farmhouse-Soft for City-Moody
If Bradley Farms was Ali Milch's ode to soft, blush-toned countryside luxury, Columbia Heights is her city cousin — a Brooklyn Heights townhouse dressed in charcoal plaster, dark walnut millwork, checkerboard tile, and brass fixtures that catch the light instead of reflecting it. It's moodier, but no less layered: a sage-green loveseat and a blush-pink girl's room keep it from tipping into gloom. We pulled every image from the project's portfolio and paired each room with real, shoppable pieces from Soho Home, Crate & Barrel, Kohler, CB2, and Serena & Lily so you can start your own version of Columbia Heights today. Interior design by Ali Milch Interiors (alimilch.com) — a New York-based boutique design studio.
01 — Primary Bedroom: Charcoal Walls & a Towering Headboard
Milch paints the primary bedroom in a deep charcoal plaster, then lets a wide taupe-and-boucle headboard, dark wood nightstands, and a single sculptural sconce carry all the warmth. A boucle lounge chair in the corner makes the case for a proper reading nook.

02 — Primary Bath: His-and-Hers Vanities & Checkerboard Tile
Dark walnut double vanities, twin brass-framed mirrors, and a graphic checkerboard floor turn the primary bath into the moodiest room in the house — a marble-clad walk-in shower keeps it from feeling too heavy.

03 — Guest Bedroom: A Blush-Toned Room That Softens the House
After two moody, walnut-heavy floors, the guest room's dusty pink bedding and a pair of tall cream dressers hung with figurative art come as a welcome exhale — proof Milch can do soft just as well as sultry.

04 — Home Office Nook: A Built-In Desk That Hides in Plain Sight
Tucked into a wall of cabinetry, the home office nook uses a round convex mirror and a gallery-style art moment to make a work-from-home desk feel like part of the decor, not an afterthought.

05 — Vanity Corner: A Wavy Mirror on a Curved Walnut Dresser
A sculptural, wavy-edged mirror perched on a channel-front walnut dresser is the kind of small vignette that makes the whole house feel considered — proof the details matter as much as the big furniture moments.

06 — Kitchen: A Walnut Island & a Bar Worth Showing Off
White oak cabinetry and a walnut-wrapped island keep the kitchen warm against the house's darker moments, while a black soapstone wet bar with glass-front shelving turns entertaining into a design feature.

07 — Living Room: A Sage-Green Sofa Softens the Whole Floor
Deep-set windows, a woven rug, and a sage-green loveseat give the parlor floor its lightest moment in the house — flowers on the coffee table do a lot of the emotional work.

08 — Dining Nook: A Round Table Under a Brass Chandelier
A round wood dining table pulls up under a statement brass chandelier, with a mappa-burl sideboard styled with glassware and books off to the side — a built-in china cabinet frames the whole scene like a stage set.
