The first designer bag is rarely a rational purchase, and it does not have to be. It does help to be honest about one thing first: how you actually move through a day. Treat resale as a floor under a decision you already wanted to make, never as the reason for it.

Is a first designer bag a good investment? Usually not in financial terms. A small number of styles from a small number of houses appreciate, and most bags lose value the moment they leave the shop. Buy something you will use often enough that the cost per wear becomes reasonable.
